Not Going to Take One!

I received a call from the SPCA cordinator that one of my long term fosters had someone interested in adopting her. As difficult as it is I am happy when one foster gets a home as it means room for another one. In this case however, we decided that we needed a break from fostering and told ourselves under no circumstance were we going to bring home another one. I already have such a huge housefull of those that never found a forever home and after exhausting all means I would adopt the special needs or senior pet myself.

We walk in the shelter and are very happy to see that kitty was going to a wonderful home. The staff ask if we could possibly take another as this one really wasn't doing well in the recovery room. Without discussion or even thinking about our previous conviction that we wouldn't take on anymore....we walk into the recovery room.

We gravitate towards a heart wrenching meow and both go awwww , "we'll take him!", we both say without hesitation. The staff inform us this isn't the one they meant, as Partridge, the tiny calico has been here far longer, since December and wouldn't be fair to her. Can we take two? they ask. We say Okay.

Then another staff person sees we now have Jamal and Partridge but Smoke, a 14 year old tiny Russian Blue, has been here longer than Jamal and it isn't fair to her. Could we take three. Okay we say.

So we stuck to our guns, we stayed strong and didn't take one home. Yuppers we took three.

Marianne, my worst fear is that when we move into our new house and take our first foster, that I am going to turn into you.

Its also my greatest hope! Keep making such a great difference; you inspire us all!
The best things come in 3s. 8O Those kitties don't know how lucky they are.

Good luck with your new group.
How lucky those 3 are to have you! :hearts:
You were sunk when you walked into the room. Thank goodness for people like you.
Marianne how do you keep your wings out of sight
:D Glad you're being true to form! 8)
I read the first paragraph and had a great laugh.
I really thought you would end up with 2, so the extra one was a surprise.
You are an angel.

If my husband was nicer, we would foster. But he knows that I would be a failure from the first moment.

We are so lucky to have people like you.
Lucky kitties....
that little "meow"knew what

Marianne, you made me laugh. And yes I found number 3 a surprise. I KNEW that you'd go home with someone. You are an angel and a VERY special person.

If ever I come back to earth re-incarnated can I come back to be one of your kitties? These lucky three are in the best place - you are so kind. They certainly landed on their feet!
