Everything Goes Outside

Hi everyone I am a new member - we have a OES that is almost 8 months old - she has hundereds of toys but for some reason everything we give her she takes outside and leaves it there. We are not able to keep a single toy in the house and not to mention she loves socks - have of the socks in the house are outside also spread all over the deck and in the snow. Any idea why she chooses to take everything outside or how to encourage her to bring it back in ?

Welcome to the forum Sheepish! I am only about 45 minutes from you! My girl Sky will be 8 months on the 19th, where did you get your pup? I'm so happy to see someone else from my area on here :)
As for the toys, she sounds like she has the same impish personality as Sky. LOL
I think your best bet is to just make sure she doesn't have anything in her mouth as she goes out the door. Maybe have a stash of toys that are for outside and a stash for inside? :)
Welcome to the forum sheepish :D

Your post made me laugh because my Mickey does the same thing,in the morning when I let him out of his crate for the 1st time he runs full speed out of it running around the house looking for any toy.hehe!!I thought it was cute til I realized all his NEW toys where going to be covered in snow and Id have to wait to get them til spring. So now right before he goes outside I tell him drop it!and he does then he goes out and tears up the snow!!LOL!!
Welcome Sheepish

Nab is 9 months old and does the same thing. We have a dog door so she just takes what she wants outside. She has a lot of stuffies out there and she loves to rip them apart and throw them in the air. She has one that she never lets get covered in snow...she moves it to 'safe' places and brings it in to defrost on a regular basis...she has even brought it to the laundry room so I took the hint...washed and dried it...and right back out it went  . It's also the one that she sleeps on when she takes a nap outside. When it was really cold after christmas (-30) she would bring each of her toys in for a few hours to get warm and then right back out again. My yard looks like a daycare!

When she was younger she would take our shoes outside but now she doesn't. Just keep telling her no about the socks and hopefully she'll grow out of it.

good to hear that I am not the only one sponsoring a daycare in my backyard - stuffies, bones, wood, socks - you name it - its out there -
Fogot to add - Maggie my sheepie is Sky's sister! It would be amazing to have them play sometime! and if I can ever figure out how to post a picture on here that is not too big you may be able to see Maggie-lol
I have the same problem...Sam loves to take, er, steal something from you and hide it outside. Usually it is a shoe. She has favorites, she loves my new slipper clogs from Lands End that is shearing lined (go figure!). Last week I found leftover Valentines cards that my son didn't use. Maybe she wanted them for the seagulls.
Woof is also a secret stash merchant. However, this behaviour has developed into something even more bizarre! On several occasions I've come home from work to find toys stageically placed - at the back and front doors, the bottom and top of our stairs etc - as if he were leaving them on guard..... :?
They like to keep a stash of toys hidden somewere. In our case, a beautiful hole in the yard where they hide their toys :? I guess they love to keep an eye on them.

Lennon likes to store his basketballs inside his doggie house where Sofa cannot get to them.
Jack and Annie have a basket of toys, so they don't hide them, but they do scatter them everywhere around the house. I am shocked I haven't broke something from tripping over a dozen dog toys. That is Joey's chore though, to pick them up. LOL
The cats on the other hand are "pack-cats"...LOL We kept losing mates of socks and are unmentionables. We thought maybe there was a porthole in our washer or dryer that kept sucking up our things, but that wasn't the case. About a week ago, I am cleaning under our bed and find a nest.....a nest of all of our missing things. Dozens of missing sock mates and such all arranged in a pile under our bed. Crazy cats....LOL

Stormi and co.
LOL that is hilarious Stormi....
My girls steal shoes. Only our dress shoes that we wear to work. They don't ever chew them, they just take them and usually hide them in their crates or behind a chair in the livingroom. W think they are trying to prevent us from going to work. LOL
Maggie has a basket as well but low and behold the basket sits empty in the hallway and all everything she owns is sitting in the snow! I imagine come spring that everthing will need to be thrown out after sitting in the wet for months (the stuffies for sure) - maggie and I are both looking forward to spring and then maybe I can take some control!
