I am no attorney but; I would read the lease carefully what does it say about being tossed out. Time wise I mean. I would begin looking as you have and keep a record of every call date, name, reason like no dogs etc to expensive and so on. In the meantime talk to a real estate attorney they are usually reasonably willing to have a five minute chat over the phone. Look up eviction law in your state / county on the internet. Then here are my suggestions.
1. let your landlord know you are looking, offer the record so they are confident in what you are saying. But let them know it may take longer than 6 weeks and if it does you will need extra time.
2. If that doesn't work. When I sold real estate I was always told it could take as long as 6 months to a year to evict someone. 30 day 1st notice 2nd etc what ever the rules are where you live. So just keep paying and looking but don't leave untill you are ready. remember talk to an attorney.

On the happier side have you considered buying a house, mortgage rates are very good still. If this is your first house you can get a special 1st time buyers deal. Down payments are low and you may find some 0 down deals.
If not mortages are available at decent down payments and good rates. This also may be the time to make a dreaded phone call to a parent or relative or ask your employer for help, allot of small companies have big hearts.
thanks for advice we are hoping to buy in a year so not long to rent it just came as a shock as we didnt know they were planning of selling
I'm sorry to hear that bobsmum, I'm sure everything will work out ok.
Silly thought -- if you like where you are -- maybe they'd like to sell to you... and might be willing to take a little longer letting you rent, or taking back a 2nd mortgage from you to help with the down payment.

Just a thought.
thanks ron this house is way out of my price thats whats so upseting i love it i cant seem to find another house nearby to rent so i think we have to move out of the area
and as soon as i say we have a oes it puts people of cos of the size
