Oh its bath time...

Obe is going to the groomer on Saturday. Has not been since before x-mas.

My question is, if I were to get him cut down to say 2-3 inches in length, so that all the black/darker hair was gone. Will he grow back the same as he is now (color wise) or will he stay the light grey?

Hope that makes sense it's too early to be typing/thinking.

How old is Obe now? Where's he at with coat changes?

It usually won't stay that light color you see at the skin.

For example, Chewie was shaved on his gray at 18 months. It looked light silver right after the shave. As it grew, he got dark again as the outer hairs got longer - he just is a darker colored OES. At 18 months (before the trim) Chewie still had all his old black-turning- brown puppy coat. It never completed the 1st coat change until late last fall when he was over 2.5 years old. But, it is a real nice coat now, so it was worth waiting for!
Mariah's coat is a medium gray when I shave her. As she grows out, the hair darkens until it reaches the blue/grey color . She has the darkest coat of all my dogs & at the age of 9 years.
Obe is almost 3, July 31st. I shaved him to an inch when was 1 but since then NO cutting allowed. I really dont care what color he is lite or dark was just wondering if the dark would come back in or stay lite gray.

I guess he is through both coat changes.
My oldest dog is getting more and more silver as time goes on. He was always a medium grey but is now truly silver.

But when he was Obe's age, as well as the other two who are younger, the coat color doesn't change when they're trimmed. The youngest one (who is now 5) is really dark and my 6 year old is a lighter grey - which the coats are when they're long and when they are short.

So my guess is the darker on the ends you see is the last of his younger coat and he'll look the lighter shade when he's trimmed and probably will stay that way.
Last November we gave both boys a haircut. Simon's hair was silver/gray. We just got them a haircut again and Simon has turned darker. I "think" it may be his adult color coat.
Well once again Obe goes to the groomer & comes back in full coat. I just dont have it in me to shave or cut the coat. Worked too hard to get it where it's at.

She did shave his belly as usual and also did some trimming on the ears, as they have never been touched. So now you can see a defined ear shape. His butt looks awesome, she does a great job. Will post pics today.
Keep him clean for a few days Shon. I want to meet him in all his glory!!!!
