Yay!! :clappurple:
Congratulations, Heather, Dave and Frosty! :D
Congratulations!
Good for You!!!

So now you have what three? Walter, Frosty and Dave's dog? How do they get along since three is the magic pack number according to some.
Aw, Congrats, Heather! I can't wait to meet him!!!
Yay! Word on the street was that you were gonna keep him and I kept waiting to hear an announcement!
Thanks!! We are not taking him home until we get back from our honeymoon next month, so the anticipation is going to make me crazy! We went to visit him at his foster home in Indiana last weekend and we had a great time.. you can read about it and see some pictures on my blog: www.dogsinmycar.blogspot.com

I have three now. Walter is my baby, but he lives at home with my parents. Marley(Dave's Wheaten) and Frosty will live with us. Walter is dog aggressive so he likely won't meet Frosty. Marley is sensitive and gets defensive with pushy dogs, so Frosty's laid back attitude is perfect for her. The only concern is that he won't be able to keep up with us on our walks/romps in the park. We'll just have to whip him into shape
Yay! Congrats! Woo hoo!

(I love that pic...)
March to May......where's he been? Etc.

So glad he now has a home!

I'm sure he'll do fine. My basset Simon has shorter legs (his total height is 14 inches!) and he runs circles around many dogs. Even now, as a 10 year old. :D
Those who have met him (rally trials and shows, past Sheepiepaloozas) can attest to his athletic ability.....
Last year's palooza he was a bit slower - he had a pulled muscle.

I'm sure Frosty will give Marley a run for her money in no time :D

Congrats on the adoption - my grapevine heard that it was hopefully in the works earlier too :D :D
Woohoo! That's so exciting. That's a great wedding present.
He's been in foster since I pulled him from the shelter. I wanted to take him right away but I decided it was just the wrong timing as I wasn't sure when I would get a job, we lived in a junky apartment, and we were right in the middle of wedding planning. Frosty had an application in on him but it didnt work out... and then I got a job and we moved into a really nice new apartment. I was still hesitant because were still right in the middle of wedding planning, but then his foster mom offered to keep him until we got back from the honeymoon. It really just worked out so perfectly!

Dawn- Laurie and I suspect that Frosty has some basset in him! He's got the short little legs and the basset trot... soo cute.
^^^ that's what I hear!
I would love to see a profile picture of him. Working with basset rescue (we take basset mixes when we can), I am used to seeing what the basset mixes look like. :D :D

This is right after Laurie shaved him, look at those stubby legs!
Congrats to all!
Looks like a definite possibility.
Most basset mixes look like the "other half", just with short legs. :D

The lab/bassets look like a solid color (whichever of the 3 colors they would be), a lab head, and have short legs.

the bully/basset was hilarious - was white and tan, a bully head and no legs.

german shepherd/bassets look like GSD's with no legs. They have the GSD markings, the double coat, some even have ears that almost stand up....

the coolest was a collie/basset. I picked her up from a shelter. She had been relinquished by her elderly owner's family, as she barked too much. (she did - non-stop, and it was that sharp, collie bark) She was sable colored, and even had a modified collie pointy nose. But her bark - all collie!!! yikes..
Her name was Pretty, and she was the nicest dog. She got adopted by a lady who loved her in spite of the bark. :D
Lucky Frosty!!!!
Have fun, I wondered why you mentioned him keeping up on hikes. :?
Till you posted the second pic. Such a cutey!!
Congratulations to you and Frosty! Yeah! :cheer: :hearts:
Congrats, Heather! Sounds like Frosty will fit in just perfectly with your household!
Congratulations! Is Frosty the one you pulled from DuPage? He's a cuties.
Congrats Heather, Dave and Frosty!!!!
Aww what a great year for you..

New job, new apartment, getting married and now Frosty.

Can't wait for pictures of your wedding and more of Frosty.

Yep, that's him! He was literally an hour from being euthanized... thanks to Midwest OES for not allowing that to happen!

Dawn- I saw a lab/basset in a shelter once that was just as you described, total freak of nature but also completely adorable. I have to say I'm a fan of the big head/little leg combo :)
Very cute boy. Congratulations. I would guess something other than Basset. Even a Springer mix would give him shorter legs. The legs don't look short or heavy enough for Basset IMHO. My neighbor has a Basset/Aussie cross and it looks like his front legs were just stuck on. Very cute though.
There are some basset mixes that have the thick basset legs but most do not.
We see lots of purebred, not show quality bassets that have much lighter bone - almost to the point of looking like longish beagles. Same thing with non-show OES, actually. Lots of them are much lighter boned then their show OES counterparts.

So when these light weight bassets get bred to other dogs all you have left are shorter legs. And it is usually the non-show quality ones that are out there "messing around"
I so missed this thread! Like Ron, I really love the pic of you and your new doggie!! I'm so excited for you. It's always the first thing couples come home together before the 2-legged kind ;)

Can't wait to hear the stories of the furkids getting along but don't forget to give us pics of the honeymoon!!
   Yay!
Ah-ha! So here's the announcement I missed! Congratulations, Heather!! What fun!

On the subject of Basset mixes, my friend has a mixed breed that she believes is Basset/Golden. He's beautiful and so sweet and loving. He looks like a thick coated golden on little stubby legs. Everyone who meets him falls in love. :hearts:
