Sammy is home...

Yep, Sammy Solara is back. Tony took the Rav4 to his dealership for an inspection, and they found a couple thousand dollars worth of repairs that needed to be done.

I bought it at the dealership he "used" to work at, so we went back and, ahem, bitched about it.

They agreed to swap cars, and give us Sammy back.

I'm pretty happy about it. Sammy has 12,000 miles, the Rav has 49,000. Sammy has much nicer appointments to her..as the Rav is very basic. Also, Sammy has XM Radio and remote start with her, the Rav doesn't have...yet.

I was having some buyers remorse about the lack of luxury stuff on the new (old) car.

I'm glad to have Sammy back, and she's glad to be back.

The dogs will cope. They've done this for 2 years...they can continue to do this...and besides...Tony drives a Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Sammy seems very happy to be here. Me, too...

they say you should get a carfax and a independent garage to look at it a used car before buying. You are lucky to get you old er car back and out of this "lemon"
So happy you you came out ok!!!!
I may have said this before, but not all dealerships and repair shops have access to CarFax. And some of those that do, don't post everything.

My husband ran a CarFax for a friend on a truck he was intersted in. The CarFax came back clean, but the inspection showed major damage.

Congrats on getting Sammy back.

Ohhh we need details!!!
I know how excited you were to get the Rav4, but it's better the devil you know than the devil you don't. Enjoy Sammy and yes, the pups will be just fine.
I'm surprised but I always thought Sammy sounded like a cooler car! Just glad you're happy.

Sammy is a MUCH cooler car. Rav4 was just more practical.

I missed her coolness....

(I'm glad this didn't work out. Do overs can be a blessing!)
woohoo! Yeah for the return of the fun car!
OK, so apparently we're not getting details. I understand.

I'm just glad Charlie Bucket is gone. :D

(I don't know why, but as soon as I read "Charlie" I thought of Charlie Bucket. He was the GOOD kid in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, but Charlie "Bucket" seemed like a bad omen from the start.)

Hmmm....I'm not sure what details to give. Charlie Bucket (that should have been a clue) was making a grinding sound under the carriage. Tony had one of his techs check it out. I forgot what he said was causing it, but it was very expensive to repair. In addition, CB needed all new tires and brakes.

When he (Tony, not CB) talked to the dealership we bought it at, they told him (because he had been an excellent employee of theirs for several years) if he wanted to return it (because they still had Sammy) he could.

We also found out, CB had been a daily rental rent a car, that probably got beat to hell.

So we jumped at the chance to get the nicer car back. No harm, no foul...well maybe a chicken or two!
I'm glad you were able to get out of CB, and back into Sammy. It makes me giggle though, because we have two Toyotas as well. Sherman, the tundra crewmax (mommy's truck) and a FJ Cruiser as well (Daddy's truck). Love them both, but don't it suck to have to put premium in the Cruiser (or Tonka truck as I call it)? Oh well........

Tony has an FJ, and he hates the premium!!!! (But loves the truck). I think the FJ is a man's truck. I hate driving it! (Tony's is Voodoo Blue. What color is yours?
Ours is Voodoo Blue, too! It's so funny, I see more women driving them than men for some reason. I saw them before my husband did, he was deployed and we were living in Alaska, and I really liked them, until I read about the premium.......then when he got home and had a boo-boo with our Saturn, he got to see one up close and fell in love. It's fun to drive (ours is a stick shift) and easy to park, especially since I'm used to parking Sherman now......
