Biggest Loser: Mike or Ron?

What are your thoughts on whether to vote for Ron or Mike.

Here is a recap of the scenario:

The Father/Son team of Ron and Mike are the two up for the elimination vote by America. America gets to vote on who should move on to the final three to vie for $250,000 and the other contestant is moved to the "sent home" category to vie for $100,000.

Mike, is an 18 year old kid who started at 388 lbs. He was surrounded by a morbidly obese family most of his life (his mom lost a lot of weight seven years ago). So through no fault of his own he was raised to be fat. He is fairly likeable and only shows signs of obnoxiousness when influenced by his father.

Ron, is a 54 year old father who started at 430 lbs. He has been obese his whole life even though his family growing up was not heavy. He has been in "game play" mode the whole way, resorting to backstabbing and manipulation to get his son to the finale to win the $250,000.

Last season America voted overwhelmingly against a couple's wishes because they hated how they played the game. Now the same situation is happening again but with a likeable kid as one of the potential eliminees.

I am torn on this myself because Mike is a kid but I am leaning towards voting Ron into the finale for the following reasons:

1) I do not like GAME PLAY on this show - the weight loss is important - so I want to send a message to these people to play for the weight loss
2) Ron stabbed decent people just trying to lose weight in the back
3) Ron has his priorities screwed up and should just be focusing on his kid getting healthy
4) Ron will probably spend "Mike's money" for him anyway

There is no way Ron will win and I am not sure Mike would win the big money anyway but he might win the "at home" prize of $100,000
I don't watch the show, so my opinion doesn't really matter but it seems like the show has been wanting Mike to win from the start (whenever I see previews or people talking about it on talk shows).

With that said, I think it's harder for Ron who is much older and set in his ways to lose weight than Mike. I also think when playing a game on reality tv ...backstabbing, manipulation, etc is accepted and only smart ("if it works") ...if the end result is to win money. But I also say I hate it too ...it just depends on how it's done. lol
My reaction is to vote for Mike. I don't like Ron - haven't liked him for a long time. You are so right that he is SO manipulative. The final straw was a few weeks ago when Ron promised Kristen he would not write her name down, then didn't discourage Mike from doing the same, under the guise of "he's doing what's best for himself." Yeah, like Mike would do ANYTHING to go against Ron's wishes. He's got that kid wrapped around his little finger BIG time.

On another note, I'm not overly fond of Helen. She's been pretty manipulative the whole season, too. Wanted her daughter Shannon to go home so SHE could stay, but SHE needed it more. Loving mother, huh?

Yes Helen is certainly not "Mother of the Year"

Didn't you love a when Helen voted Filipe off she said "I have to think of myself first for a change". 8O
For some reason I am finding the content of this thread strangely alarming. :D

Love,
Ron.
I can't believe they asked them to run a marathon! My biggest beef about the show is all the incredibly unsubtle product placement!

When Ron got rid of Kristin, AS HE PRETENDED TO BE NOBLE, that was brutal.

Ron may be very manipulative but I was really moved when Mike gave away his groceries for a year to Aubrey and her five kids. I would be so proud, if I'd raised my son in a way that he would do something that generous. So while he may be very good at manipulating people I don't think he's a bad man. lol More often then one might like, those qualities are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Also most of these types of people don't have cameras catching their secret exchanges.

Between Ron and Mike,I am pretty sure that it will be Mike. I don't think Helen or Tara would have enough of a fan base to get people to vote against Ron's wishes.

On a separate note if Tara could just talk about 20 seconds less every time they put a camera on her, I would probably really like her. I'm always excited about her accomplishments and wanting to cheer for her and then when she starts talking about it, she almost always sours my opinion of her.
I am a Tara fan - even though I think she is a headcase.

I like the way she pushes herself to win every challenge.
I hope she can get her head into the same shape she is whipping her body.

I watch this show because I like seeing these people conquer their weight loss - at least temporarily.

I am REALLY not a fan of Ron. He has bothered me the entire season. I voted for Mike. Ron made quite a showing at the marathon though. He definitely earned some points there.

But that is exactly what the Ronipulator wanted you to do. 8O
What I like about the show is that it isn't as exploitative as it might have been. I love seeing people find it within themselves to take the help they've ask for to make dramatic changes in their life. I really like that their is still a significant prize for the people cut from the show to keep them motivated. I really like that they send the contestants home for parts of the show so they can see the pressures they will be facing and still ask for help and tips. And I really like that the last stretch of the show is something like 6 months of them doing it for themselves in the very environment that led to the initial problems. I think this gives them the best chance of really changing their behavior.
My Hubby & I have been hoping someone would vote RON off for weeks now. Helen is not going to get any kudos from me for Mother's day... but
not knowing all her background info I'm trying not to judge too terribly harshly.... (I know there have been times raising these 3 kids alone, w/ hubby deployed soo much that I have WANTED to find something that was totally for me & didn't involve my kids.) That said... I still would have put my kid first and went home to keep my kid there.

I was hoping Kristen would win.

I really hope Ron doesn't stay on. It has bothered me from the beginning that he is even on the show. He had gastric bypass surgery and it FAILED.
I agree that Tara is at least OCD, with some other psych issues thrown in, but I do hope she wins. I don't like the way the brown team played the game and Helen drives me bonkers with her sobbing.
And....to our Ron......I don't think you have to worry about us voting you off of here
