GET A FREE MEAL!! Must Read Asap

...I knew watching oprah would pay off. ;)

Go to http://oprah.com/kfc

and for each member of your family (up to 4 unless you have more than one computer), you get two pieces of chicken (grilled), a biscuit, and 2 individual sides FOR FREE.

1 chicken piece is about 80 calories, 4g fat, 0 trans fat

Offer good May 5, 2009 to May 19, 2009 (minus mother's day)

Must download coupon at above site in the next 24 hrs. Took me an hour of trying randomly to get in due to heavy traffic on the site. Mr. J hates kfc too, but I'm a coupon addict so I figure I could find a friend who could use them.

Just did it.
did it too.
Did it too!
Todd LOVES!!!! KFC.

Thanks, I just need to remember to go back and print it out tonight after I get home from work.....

I'm on my laptop at work, no printer, darn....

Thanks Jo!
You have to be patient, though. There must be lot of traffic on the site. It's really slow loading.
I got mine! I'm pretty excited, because this is supposidly fairly healthy!
I remember when they came out with an ad campaign trying to tout the fried chicken as healthy and as an Atkins-style low carb meal -- "only 11 carbs per piece!".

Who the hell eats one piece? The stuff is sold by the bucket!!

I'd be wary of anything that came from this cynical corporation; check the salt content, I'd suspect the chicken has been "pumped" -- injected with a salty fluid to make it tastier and juicier.

Then again, I printed out a coupon for Joan! :D

Edit: I just checked -- a single breast has 440 mg of sodium, compared to about 1,000 for their very salty original, so it's not terrible but it certainly wouldn't make it on a low sodium diet.
Ron, I too checked out the stats on the new chicken, and...it wasn't bad!!! I just heard on the news, so many people downloaded the coupon, several KFC's ran out of chicken yesterday!

Does anyone know why they don't call it Kentucky Fried Chicken anylonger? Is KFC their new legal name, or just easier?
These people could have predicted KFC running out of chicken.

My husband drove home from work yesterday and said every KFC was packed!!!!!!!! Thankfully you've got 2 wks to use it.
I saved it to a file and printed 8. I got them for the kids work, they'll eat anythng free :)
Deb--I believe I remember hearing that they changed their name from Kentucky Fried Chicken to KFC back in the 90s, both to sound 'cool' (since you know, using all letters is cool), as well as to de-emphasize the Fried aspect of it (even though that's what people were still going for).

I'll see if I can find out.
Darn, I didn't get a chance to print it out last night.... :(

No free KFC for Todd.
Okay, I just looked on snopes and it says there are 3 reasons they changed their name (in 1991)...

1. They wanted to de-emphasize the use of 'chicken' because they wanted to add more variety to the menu that included other food than chicken.

2. They wanted to eliminate 'fried' to appear more health-conscious.

3. They wanted to be a part of the recent trend of abbreviating things (IHOP) (HoJo)...

Louisville, we have a problem. A commenter says:

Unfortunately for those who worked on or near 42nd St., in NYC are not able to use the coupons. A KFC employee was literally screaming in front of the KFC stating, "NO MORE COUPONS" and turned people away. Thanks for nothing!!!!

And another:

I went to use my coupon today and there was a notice on the door stating that if your last 4 numbers in the bar code are 1234, the coupon is no good! Came home to try to print again and the site would not let me print another coupon.

Jay here. ALL the pdf versions of the coupons (see post below) have the 1234 UPC number. I have a call into KFC public relations about this and about whether they're going to be swamped by all the demand. Will report back when I hear.

UPDATE: More reports of KFC customers unable to redeem grilled chicken coupons. Metro New York customers do not seem to be having good KFC experiences today:

If the coupon doesn't print, consider it a blessing! the portchestoer NY store sort of honored a few before noon (2 wings, mash & no biscuit) and then told the remaining coupon holders (that were shunned into a separate line) that the chicken was gone. I eat atr this KFC regularly and was treated like a vagrant because I had a coupon; that they issued!

And:

well we went to kfc in brooklyn center off brooklyn blvd and they also said that if any of us had the same numbers they weren't going to take them.everyones coupons end with 1234'so we went to another one got served went back and talked with the 1st place.they were only serving one per car.

And:

I just came back from the North Lake KFC in Pasadena California, where the sign on the door read "We are not accepting internet coupons".

UPUPDATE: Scott in San Antonio says he & friends successfully redeemed PDF-based coupons. Since he says all coupons' barcodes were the same, I assume they all ended in 1234, which seems to be all you get from the PDF version.

I was able to print it no problem with FireFox. I also saved the PDF. Others who went to get it got the same coupon code. We all went to lunch together and joined the long line of other people waiting for their free chicken. We were politely served and while it took about 10 minutes for our food to be ready, we did get it and in no way felt slighted.

I guess I know what I will be eating for the next two weeks!

With that said, there aren't any problems in Houston except hearing on the radio that places were running out of chicken. I feel bad for the employees for the next 2 weeks! Bwhahaha.[/quote]
I heard today they're giving a free pepsi in addition to everything else due to the inconvenience some customers had.

10 point something million coupons were downloaded.
4 point something million were USED just yesterday /kfc president
I heard, you have to take you coupon to KFC, get a managers approval, then they will submit it, you will get a reg. coupon in the mail.

I'm taking mine tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens.
