OH NO!!! Pork Loin was DRY

I used my crockpot and cooked my loin yester for 7 hours as directed. It had taste but was very dry. There was a 1 1/2 liquid in it.
What did I do wrong?
I did shredd the rest and added BBQ sauce to make pulled pork. Just to save the rest.

you know i did one too the other week and it was a bit dry too but then we are not big pork fans in this house so hubby pulled it apart right away and covered his in bbq too.

ever thing else i've tried in the crockpot came out great just not the pork

so no suggestions here but eager for tips

zoe and einy
Only pork I've ever had in the crockpot that was moist was cooked with sauerkraut.
I always had luck in the crock too.
Zoe your hubby and me thought the same. At least it saved what was left.
I will stick to beef, chicken too.
we don't eat pork much also. Sometimes just chops.
This comes out super tender for me. I've only made it twice, but my family went ga-ga over it. 1 can of cranberry sauce mixed with 1/3C french salad dressing, onion. and 3lb pork loin roast. seasoned a lot with salt, pepper, and garlic. low 8 hrs. couldn't pick it up, it was so tender. I always sear mine first on a pan before putting it in a crockpot.
great idea Mrs. J

THANKS
the last one I made was very moist - and I have witnesses too, as it was for the lunch at the recent agility seminar in WI.

All I did was place the pork roast (a boneless pork roast in a mesh bag) into the crockpot, salt and pepper, half a chopped onion, and turn it on. No water, nothing else.

It was nice and moist straight from the crockpot....although it did become pulled pork sandwiches for the next day for the humans, and the dogs all enjoyed the drained off fat as a snack on their dog food for the weekend. :D
how long did you cook it?

Normally at home I cook on low all day, depending totally on the roast size, usually 7-8 hours.

But, I had to drive to Kristine's 1st, so it went out there in a cooler, got put in the crockpot as soon as I got there - about 4pm, and cooked on high until 9pm. It was a big roast to feed a crowd. It totally filled my large oval crockpot. (sorry, I don't remember the weight).

I do have best luck with the boneless pork roasts in a bag. They are less expensive and always work out, so I just keep using the same type every time. :D

I grew up with my mom making roasts that were dry and like shoe leather, so I am thrilled I can make these turn out well!
Its the difference in cut - fattier cuts do better in the crock pot. Most loin roasts have very little fat.

True.
I guess sometimes it pays to be frugal.

(sounds better than cheap)

But, I will say they turn out non-fatty to eat. As I shredded it, I also removed any remaining fat that hadn't cooked down.
I received more than one comment that the meat was tender, but not fatty - I guess many heard "pork roast" on the menu, and thought "fat" automatically.

Me too and it sure wasn't dry
I made a pork loin (not crockpot) tonight, and I'm so upset b/c ever since this weekend.... I can't find my camera. I totally remember placing the camera on my laptop while the battery charged too, so I think one of the kids grabbed. Refuse to post w/o a stupid dang pic. Where the heck is it?!?! I wish everything came with a remote to find things!!! It turned out real pretty. :(
It was a loin and no fat. Kerry I think you hit on it. I will get a less expensive cut next time...

YUMO
I have found that cooking a pork loin roast in 1 cup Italian dressing does the trick in the crock pot. Moist and tender every time and the dressing gives it a great flavor.

Did you cook it on high, instead of low? I've always had good luck with pork in thte crockpot.
