A proud moment at the Densons!

I just have to brag for a minute. My 21-year old daughter, Sammi, has decided to serve an 18-month mission for our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). She received her call today to the Fort Lauderdale Florida Mission! We're so excited for her!!!!!

This is Sammi with her buddy, Charlie (as a puppy).
You'll all get to meet her at Sheepiepalooza. She's AWESOME!!!! (And I'm being completely objective!! :D )

Wow! Congrats--I know you are proud of her. She is pretty on the outside too! And looks like she loves her buddy! I have a sister in Ft. Lauderdale--she loves it there.
:hearts: How wonderful!
I'm sure it will be a great experience for her. :D
One of my daughters' friends is doing a mission in China right now, and teaching English at a school. It was a huge adjustment, but the girls are learning so much.
Congrats to your daughter. I'm sure she will have a good time.
What a wonderful thing...I am sure you are very proud of the path she is taking!!!!!
I think that's more than wonderful!! What a committment!! Sounds like a very wonderful person!

Is she allowed to contact you guys in those 18 months? My friend said, at least the men, weren't allowed to in any of the places she had been which I thought HAD to be the hardest part, but I understood staying focused on the mission.
Wish her good luck from us!

The same rules apply for the girls as well. Unfortunately, she can't call us except for Mother's Day :D and Christmas :D . Those are the days to live for! She can email or write letters once a week. We can email and/or write to her as well.

As this is our first missionary, we can only judge by observing others. However, considering she and I email all day every day, I can't imagine how hard this is going to be. As the Mom, I know it's going to be VERY bittersweet with a LOT of tears for 18 months!!
No seriously... I don't know how the men ...and the women who choose to do this or shorter ones do it. Joining the military and leaving across the states away from mom was SO HARD, but to not be able to hear their voice. Maybe that's why I think Mormons are such solid people ;) I think the boys who come to my door every now and then get scared b/c while I'm not interested ...I tell them what a good thing they're doing, and what wonderful husbands they'll make one day. My husband is always in the background hand motioning that I'm crazy which at least lets them know there's one person in the house not kooky. 8)

Good luck to you and your husband. I know it'll be a tough road for everyone.
Good luck and best wishes for her on her mission. My middle son is getting to be that age... I also will dread the lack of talking. He's my talker son... we talk all the time.

Think of all the experiences she will have to share when she gets back!!
Please send Sammi our best. I know she will do well! We are excited to meet all of you at Sheepiepalooza!
YAY congratulations!!! :yay: What a great experience!!!!
Found this just for your daughter

Oh my gosh! Get a box of tissues!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! She loved it and I bawled like a baby. The tears seem to flow freely lately. I can't imagine what the future holds!! (Me wearing my glasses more and more all the time; poor contacts!)

Thank you all for the well-wishes. It means a lot!
