Hotspot had healed, now is bleeding . . . Advice?

Eleanor Roosevelt the Luck Dragon had a very little hotspot about a week ago between her toes. She had been alone a little more than usual last week, so I think the stress and separation anxiety may have caused her to start it.

I followed the advice in the other forum topics on hot spots and clipped the area, washed it and also put a polyester sock over it to keep her from licking the area. The sock seemed to let it breathe enough to dry out.

Everything seemed better until today; I thought it had almost healed. But I checked on it again (as I do every few hours) and it looked bigger. It's not hot or even red, but when I tried to put tea tree oil on it (in a hot spot spray) it started to bleed and she was not very happy with me. I'm wondering if the bleeding might just be healthy draining, like a pimple at the end stages (gross, i know. Sorry).

From what I know about infections, it doesn't look infected, especially since it's cool to the touch, but do you think I can wait a day before shuffling her over to the vet? Or should I take her tonight?

I only have very limited experience with hot spots but they don't generally drain by bleeding. They seem to be weepy in the center and can grow quickly. Could she have scraped it on something to reopen it? If it had healed then opened again, it's best to have the vet check it out to make sure it's a hot spot and not something else. I'm not a vet but I'd think waiting until tomorrow is reasonable.
I have to agree. The hot spots I've dealt with usually have a puss-like center, no blood at all. I would take her to the vet.

Oliver gets them between his pads too, it's just a horrid place for a hot spot. The long sock really works well for us too.

Good luck!
Thanks so much for the advice. I think you're right that a scab reopened and that's what caused the bleeding. It's calmed down a lot overnight (and no bleeding after I first wrote). I'm going to check on her in a few hours and then make an appointment. It seems like if I can keep her off it, it should heal on its own, but I want to be sure of that.

I wish i could get her to chew on something other than her paws, but she doesn't like anything I've tried unless it's food (like dog beef jerky), but then it's gone in 2 minutes. She even loses interest in the Kong toys!
