We are getting an OES puppy in the beginning of June, and we would like to train the puppy to go to the bathroom in a certain area of our yard. As crazy as it may sound, my father loves having a good-looking yard, and does not want the grass to die from urination, or have poop around the yard. We have a decent-sized area behind and next to our garage that has stones where we would like to teach the puppy to go to the bathroom. But how would we go about doing this?

The only logical thing i can think of is that we just will have to take the puppy out on a leash to that area for a while as it goes to the bathroom? Then hope they start to realize that that is where they need to go to the bathroom..?
This actually is pretty doable. Mine do that all on their own. Leash training and limiting the area right away should give you pretty good results.

When mine go out in the fenced dog yard, each one has a different poop area. I have 4 different sized dogs........and 4 different poop-size spots! Laughing
Dawn's right, this is actually, it is very do-able and your approach is the most logical. Take him on a leash to where you want him to go -EVERY SINGLE TIME - and give him a command (whatever word you decide to use) so he will associate it with potty breaks. It will take several months, but if you are consistent and persistent, it will work. There are no shortcuts. Wink

Good luck! Very Happy And Congrats on getting a puppy! Cool
