Coat differences!!

Thought this might be interesting, coat changes on Litter brother and sister, babette is so light now, still has a tad more puppy coat to loose, Syd has a way to go but is starting to grey up the back legs and across the shoulders now. Amazing the differences in coat developement on the two at the same age.

You can see the grey happening on his front leg now also but still has a long way to go to catch up with his sister.

Sheepie girls definately mature faster IMO. :P

Wow, isn't that interesting! Bally is somewhere between the two of them at the moment, but it's hard to say because he's gone completely grey in random places across his body
That's a big difference! It's neat to see how different their coats are even though they're related and the exact same age.
It is neat to see the difference in littermates, I also saw huge differences between Bree and Sadie watching them grow up. Bree has a much nicer looking coat, fantastic texture, beautiful color. Sadie's coat stayed black til almost 2 years and was extremely coarse.... coarse is correct coat tecture but hers was like the guard coat was TOO coarse and heavy and laid flat without a lot of work. Bree's needed no teasing, just brushing, to go in the ring, she has just the right amount of undercoat and texture to the guard coat.
Wow Lisa, Babs is so light now. She and Tiggy were nearly the same colour in Dec and even though they're only 2 weeks difference in age, Tiggy is just like Syd, dark all over except her legs especially the front ones.
Can the difference be due to the colour their adult coat is going to be??
I've never watched a sheepie through coat changes before, in fact until a year ago I didnt know they started out black. It is amazing how they change and at different rates.
Hi Mim babs looks like she is going to have her mothers coat. Here is a thread on Photos of her mum so you can see the changes.

They have puppy coat, then onto a Junior coat then another change to the fully Mature coat.

You can see that in Bries photos from 4 months to 4 years. Syd well who knows but the light grey is blooming through, his daddy had a gorgeous adult coat so we shall see later down the track who the slow male takes after. :P

Thanks Lisa.
That is interesting, isn't it? Thanks for posting these photos. It's nice to have a visual record to go back to when someone asks this question. It's cool how it varies so much even with littermates.
Thanks for posting, very interesting!
Very interesting.

Is there anything like a boy dog typically takes after the sire and the girl takes after the mom (looks-wise)? Or is it totally random?

No totally random we shall see who Syd takes after when he is fully mature. Babs is definately mommys side coat wise as she is changing just as her momma did. Syd has a nice light grey coat breaking through slowly but most males seem to be slower in the maturity stakes. :P

Brain and smartness wise too, sheepie girls seem to click faster 8)  Either that or Syd missed out some in the brains department when they were handed out
Now dont be insulting the beautiful, blue eyed Syd.
He just likes to think things through first, and by then his sister's already got things sorted. :D

  slow but steady like a rock?!
Same thing with Chewie and his sibs. He is definitely the late bloomer, even compared to his brothers.

We will be together with 4 of them this weekend, I will try to get a picture.
