So chiquita will be having a one year old male lab/rotwiller friend over for 2 1/2 days. Whew I'm outta here! Can't say that I'm ready for two Laughing But chiquita is more than ready.

One issue is that because she's younger she gets tired much faster. How much play time would you all recommend? She doesn't do well at all on a daily basis without two very good naps in the day. So with all the excitement...well, I'm a bit concerned that we will have a mean puppy.

Toys seem to be a bit of a problem. The older dog does not share. So should I just pick up all toys?
If you can, find out the other dogs normal schedule. If possible keep that dog and Chiquita on the same routine as they are used to. Of course allow play time, but they will do better if their own routines stay more like what they normally are.
Especially if this is a 1st time thing for the dogs.
For example, mine are very used to going and staying different places - other friends, motels and such. But they all need to be introduced to new things with planning, so they have a good experience - and you too! Very Happy

Definitely pick up all the toys. If they each have special toys, only give them to the dogs when they are separate - gated or crated or whatever works in your house. No sense starting a squabble over toys - so easily prevented.
Also, food and water in separate areas is a good thing. When I have new dogs over, I always make sure there is more than one place for them to get a drink.

Another thing - when the visiting dog comes, it's not a bad idea to close off rooms and/or gate areas. Potty training can go out the window - excitement, new surroundings, playing and drinking more water....
Once they are settled, gradually allow more space. Smile

I hope it goes well. It is so handy having a friend to swap dog sitting with. Very Happy
ohhhh such good tips!!!! Thanks! That was all great advice.

They are used to each other. And get along well. And she has stayed one weekend with the other couple and dog. Laughing Plus, the dog will be coming tonight for a trial run at our house.

I really, really like the ideas about multiple places to drink. And keeping less of the house available.
