Max, the Kleenex Destroyer

Max LOVES to shred Kleenex and any other tissues he can nab out of our trash cans. He puts them delicately between his paws and pulls them apart. In the morning it looks like it snowed in the bedroom.

Also, he is very "grunty". You touch him, he grunts. You rub him, he grunts. And sighs. And moans.

Do I have a unique dog or is this a sheepie thing?

I must say, I rescued him almost a year ago (he is 6) and he has the most personality of any dog I have ever had!

Dutch is the same with any paper products or for that matter anything she can grab ..books, pens, clothes, etc.,etc.,etc. Our trash cans are all behind closed doors, top of the fridge or wherever else we can keep them out of her reach
Maybe Heart and Max are related????

We 'play' Heart all the time....touch, grunt......scratch....grunt.....she lays down....grunts....I love her piggy grunts............

AND she love to tear ANY paper products..including money!!!!!!!
Both of our dogs are OES are major grunters.
Patch is a big girl at 106 pounds so when she lays down it is with much drama and sighing. She circles and circles, then slowly puts her butt down with the rest of her body following with a clunk. Friends watching Patch for the first time when she was very young thought she was getting ready to wee on the floor she was sitting down so slowly, but soon realized she was a dramatic sitter. And occasionally she'll grab a used napkin or paper towel and relocate it.
All of my dogs grunt. I put it down to the weight of the world on their shoulders! Being loved is such a burdon! We have a business and buy in bulk and it is not uncommon to go to the back room in the morning and find about 82 toilet rolls lovingly destroyed and thrown everywhere. I laugh, Hubby hasn't got the joke yet!
Jenny doesn't grunt, but is a recovering trashcan-aholic (LOL). She was always pulling trash from the bathroom cans, so our trainer told us to put a mouse trap in the can and put stuff on top, when she went near the can we kicked it so that it would go off, the noise scared the heck out of her, but she doesn't go in the trash can any more.
It's just a dog thing, I think. Many toy dogs I know love to shred paper too. My maltese used to just wait for me to finish a roll or for me to wave a piece of tp in front of her.

Charlie was a major Kleenex hound for three years (although he wasn't a grunter, in fact he always was a very quiet sheepdog). He would harvest them from every waste basket in the house except the one in the kitchen which has a lid on it. Your post made me realize that he hasn't been into Kleenex since we got Toby, another OES rescue, a year and half ago. Now Charlie has the full time job of supervising his little brother and protecting his box of toys and no time for Kleenex.

I recommend you get another OES, preferably a rescue. I have to admit it isn't as quiet around the house, though-- Toby is teaching Charlie how to howl. I'll take grunts anytime, I think, to two full grown sheepdogs trying to out-howl each other.

glad to hear you say it. I have a super grunter. The one that kills me is when she lays down and sighs this big sigh like life is so boring. heheheh. Ohhh, to be four months old. It must be hard.
Chief likes the Kleenix box.......could care less about the Kleenix...and grunt.....he talks all the time......I love it :D
No paper shredders in our bunch.

But,Chewie is a grunter. He even does it in the Rally ring.
This is my first entry, so hopefully I've figured it out okay.
I thought that our Bailey (7 years old) was just stealing the kleenex, tissue, etc to get my attention...glad to hear that it's just a sheepie thing. Grover (4 years old), our rescue sheepie grunts all the time and he also acts like it's a major event to sit and lay....at 100 lbs, he's not really graceful, he just sort of plops down and then grunts.
No paper shreders here well not unless you are one of the pampered felines that live here 8O but lots of grunts when sitting down and loud sighs when it's bath time well anytime seems to be sigh time for Sammy
Bingley is practically addicted to paper - but he eats it! He grunts and groans all night long - it's adorable!!
