Bone Cyst or Osteosarcoma?

First of all, I am so glad I found a site dedicated to Sheepies! My fur-baby Abby, is eight years old and we were recently given some potentially devastating news regard her health. She started out a month ago lifting her right paw up when she would sit and then started wimpering a week ago. I took her to her vet several days and x-rays were taken. It showed spots on her lower wrist that the vet could not identify as osteosarcoma or bone cysts. The location of one "spot" is in a location that the vet feels cancer would not form. A second x-ray revealed a lesion further up, above the elbow. Abby is scheduled for a biopsy Monday morning. A shot of Rimadyl, followed by Rimadyl tablets seems to be keeping the pain at bay. Our family is devastated. Abby came into our lives 8 years ago this week. She was this little ball of fur I nicknamed "my little Panda". I had never been a sheepdog owner before, but I can attest to the fact that the bond between sheepie and their family is "indescribable." I am just at a loss and hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.

Thanks everyone for your good thoughts! Abby had her biopsy today and bounced back from it rather quickly! She jumped up on me when I went to pick her up! I should have the results of the biopsy tomorrow or Wednesday. Her vet tells me that she does not act like a dog that has osteosarcoma and that is a good sign. Her pain is controlled to the point of where she is almost like a puppy again. I know the probability of osteosarcoma is high, but I'm praying for a positive outcome.

I hope you get good news. Hugs to Abby
Keeping the paws crossed for good news for Abby! :D
Lisa thinking of you and abby, I think waiting for the results is the worst part, so hopefully you have that quickly.

Keeping positive thoughts flowing for good news on Abby. :crossed:
