OES in Greenville NC

There is a pure bred OES in Pitt county animal shelter in Greenville NC. Is there someone close to there that might be interested in adopting this big boy? I will but I am about five hours from there and that is a long trip. I tried to call them to get more information but I had to leave a voice mail. I will try in a little while again. The number is252-355-7879. Apparently, he is behind on his shots and HW preventatives. He also isn't fixed. I don't know anything about this shelter but I think the one were I live would quarinten him for 14 days and nueter him before they would release him. He looks very matted and dirty but healthy. One of these days I will learn how to post pictures and you all will get to see Lucy and the rescue dogs.

Did you contact the OES Rescue Network - they may have someone closer who could go and get him and may even have a home waiting.

Is this sheepie fella on Petfinder or the Pitt County animal shelter's webpage? Can't find him :?:

Hi All
I sent an email to the shelter & this is the response...I will see if I can send the pictures to Ron & maybe he can post them for me...I am soooo nontech
Hi,
The owner still has the dog...she contacted me about finding him a home so I asked her to hold on to him instead of turning him in....I have attached pictures of him.
Thanks,
Elizabeth

Pictures are available.
He looks young. Any more info about him? Couldn't find anything on petfinder.
Yeah, any more info, like age, temperment, house broken etc?
I sent an e-mail yesterday to the address that Cassie'smomma posted a few days ago offering assistance in transport or to contact the Southeast OES Rescue organization. I haven't heard anything back yet, though. I'll post it if I do hear something.
If you hear anything let me know. I have been looking for a rescue to adopt or if needed to help foster. I would have some questions though, like I mentioned, age, house broken, personality, will he be fixed, cked out by vet, past health issues, does he get along with other dogs, etc. It would disappointing to adopt a sick or unhealthy pup. I'm in Charleston, about 4 or so hours away......
Hi All
I am waiting to hear back from Elizabeth the shelter worker myself! I am in Atlanta & offered to go up I85 to get him! I think Alison of Lucy/Thumper wants him & will get him this week! Here are some excerpts from my correspondence with Elizabeth.

Hi Diane,
The owner says that he is good with her other dog (mastiff) but that Milo (OES) and the dane don't get along at all. That is why she is giving him up....the two keep getting into terrible fights. The dane is around 1 1/2 to 2 and is neutered. The last fight was so huge that the neighbors called animal control. I think he is around 3 or 3 1/2 years old, not neutered and not up to date on shots. A lady from Greensboro, Alison, is working on coming this week to get him.
Thanks, Elizabeth
Diane
I will contact Alison and see when she is planning on coming....I will let you know. Thanks so much for your offer to help out. I am just glad to know he isn't going to come to the shelter.
I'll be in touch.
Elizabeth

That's all I know y'all. I think Milo needs to get out of there fast...Sheepie verses Great Dane
Diane
Yes, we are getting him this weekend. He offically is with OES of the Carolinas (a new spin off of NEOES). We have a contact in Wilmington that is alot closer than me. She also works at a vet where he will get up to date on his shots, fixed and observed. He is not suposed to be aggressive but it was apparent the Great Dane was on the lossing end of that fight. It was quite bloody. Apparently, they also have a waiting list of people interested so I think all is well. If that falls through than he will be coming to my house for fostering and I will let you all know. I know we have some members on the east coast and I thought were looking into getting another OES hence the post. Hopefully, all will go smoothly and we will not hear again about this big boy. I really think he just need socialization. We will see!! Cassie's mom that is great that you were willing to come from Atlanta!!! That is not a short trip! Everyone have a great night!
alison
Good luck! And congrats!
Hi Alison...Actually it is not really that far to Greenville, NC from Atlanta  Milo deserves to be in a safe place & loved! I know y'all will find him a great furever...Thanks for all YOU do!
Diane...all for the love of the sheepies & mostlies too :D
I just LOVE that bow!!!! How do you get her to keep it on?
Alison...Glad you like Cassie's special occasion bow! She also wears 2 small bows one on top of each ear..look like pig tails...they last only until she rocknrolls with her shaggy housemate G.Schnauzer/BCollie...he will snatch them off her head & run away...just like a bratty little brother  I've only had upright boys sooo it's fun to do the bow thingy
That's fabulous news that Milo is being rescued! Thank you!
alison
What's up with Milo...still in Greenville, NC? Curious about what he's like away from the Great Dane & Mastiff? 3 BIG dogs 8O
diane
To me oes are not very big dogs, not even as big as a lab. I got used to my dane though, my oes were always the "little" dogs. LOL
He's adorable! I sure hope he finds a good home.
Just curious....any new news on Milo? Is he still in Wilmington now? How is he doing? :?:
Milo is still in Wilmington NC right now. His nuetering surgery went well but he has some health issues. Several different types of worms and some other things that I'm not sure about. But I guess it was to be expected. So I believe he is being boarded at the vets until he gets alittle healthier and then will either go to his home or come to mine. Apparently he has been a sweetheart as of yet all he wants is affection. Another velcro sheepie. I kinda hope he comes here first. Lucy keeps wimpering all the time. I took her to the vet and she is healthy so he thinks she is mourning the loss of Thumper and then Nikki. I might end up having to get another one to help her broken heart. I don't want to get another rabbit because I still want to foster OESs nd the isn't an ideal combo. So we will see if we end up with another rescue. The situation was a little curious and I am tempted to follow up with the original owner just to make sure the other dogs are ok. Will keep you posted!
Thanks for the update! I am glad to hear that his surgery went well. I hope he'll be healthy enough to be released soon. I'm sure the attention of a loving family will make all the difference in the world to him.

I am sorry that Lucy seems sad. It sounds like you have the right idea, though, to rescue another OES as a companion for her. :D

I'll be interested to know what you find out about the other dogs there, too.

Also, I just recently sent the application in to join the Southeast OES rescue. I haven't been through the "vetting" process to become actively involved in rescues yet, but am willing and anxious to do so. :D
Lucy/Thumper - I was just wondering what became of this fellow? Do you have any recent info on him? I hope he's in his furever home and loving it.
