Nipping/biting?

I am new to this forum and so, very happy to have found it. I am the proud mommy of a 5 month old sheepie, Daisy. She is pretty good with people of all ages and loves other dogs, but she is VERY nippy with me. I have her on a gentle leader, to keep her somewhat under control, but when we run around the yard, she nips my skin and clothes. (tonight she got me pretty good, breaking skin and leaving a big bruise) How normal is this? What can I do? Help!

Woof is six months old - and still nips on occasion (like, every day!) - I'm new also, to both the breed and the forum, but others advised me when I had the same problem! - It seems to be down to a couple of things.
a) Dogs don't have hands - they use thier mouths to "feel" new things
b) teething - just like us, chewing things helps relieve discomfort!
c) The pup is testing it's boundaries in normal puppy play - see below

Advice on how to stop it? I've been told to..
i) Yelp like a puppy - this tells your dog he's hurt you (just like his littermates would have done whilst at play)
ii) Give him a firm "no"
iii) Walk away from him / put him in a different room
iv) Give him something else to chew

iii) and iv) work best for my Woof - Good Luck!
plz could someone tell me why my dog won't go out side when raining :(
??? Woof loves going out in the rain, and the wind - I think he likes the feel of the elements on his coat!

The other day I was watering the garden with the sprinkler, and Woof thought it was great fun to run underneath - great fun!
Gracie will not go out if it's raining until it is absolutley necessary, yet she loves the sprinklers. Buckley doesn't like rain or sprinklers, but it is easier to get him out while it's raining than Gracie. I think it just depends on how "prissy" the dog is. They both LOVE the wind blowing in their fur- luckly for them we live in OK and wind is quite abundant :D
cindy & the monsters
Merlin alway gave me what I was told were 'love nips' and boy did they HURT - it wasn't a bite - or anything - he kept his mouth pretty much closed - and kind of just pinched my forearm with his teeth - kind of a nibble!

Merlin was definitely an 'ankle man'. When we would play with him - he always went for the ankle - unless we were 'bare-legged'. He never grabbed the ankle itself - but always the pant leg or the sock - problem was he was so strong - he'd just lift a leg in the air - and down I would go - and he didn't stop there - then he just drug me around the yard - i would be laughing so hard - i couldn't get him to stop - ruined many a sock too i might add!. once when my daughter was riding her bike and he grabbed her pant leg and pulled her off the bike she wasn't real happy - but i told her he was getting even with her - since she managed to run over him on her bike about once a week - which was actually his fault as he got right in front of her and she couldn't swerve quick enough!!!! We loved videotaping these collisions!!!(no people or animals were hurt during the making of those home movies)
My response is to Mikey, you advised yelping like a puppy. Let me tell you something about my Vivi  I tried the yelping and if she thinks she is hurting you, she goes in for the kill! It was funny at first, we would lay on the ground on our backs and yelp and man oh man, she went nuts! Don't show any weekness around Vivi, she's full of fire! And there is no walking away from her either, she will grab your leg. Needless to say she is in classes and we are trying to teach her she is not the Alpha leader, but she just doesn't get it! aaahhh we're being overrun by Sheepies!!! :P
yup, yup, yup - I agree totally. If I really want Woof to know I'm alpha dog I'll pick him up in my arms (he realises I'm still mush bigger and stronger than him) - trouble is I don't know how much longer I'll be able to do that (little lamb's getting big! - 5 stone (or 70lbs to y'all))...
Hello all! Jack who is 6 months old doesn't like going to the bathroom in the rain either. He waits until the last possible second. He doesn't like the wind either and like Gracie girl said Oklahoma is very windy. Annabelle though is 4 months old and doesn't mind it, she acts like a race car zooming around and falling and sliding and getting up and running again. They both have their funny quirks.
About the biting and nipping, Jack never did that, he has always been happy with his toys, but Annabelle has in the past and we have always gave a firm no, made her settle on her blanket and would give her a chew toy. She only does it now when she gets VERY excited. TTFN
I have to close the doors so Shanti won't go outside when raining. He start running and jumping like a crazy dog trying to catch the rain drops. Crazy uh?

HE WON'T GO OUTSIDE WHEN IS WINDY, AS HE IS AFRAID OF WIND! :?
