When dogs run their faces along furniture

This can happen

Image

We spotted this on Friday evening and called the Vet on Saturday morning and wonder of wonders they were able to fit us in.

Garfunkel must have rubbed a little too much. The Vet tested him for a few things and nothing showed up so now we just have to put antibiotic cream on it and wait for it to clear up.

Oh yeah...We are supposed to "TRY" to keep him from rubbing on the furniture

OH no!!! Poor Garfunkel!

Merlin is a furniture face rubber too as was my previous Ole Blue. With Blue it was due to allergies but don't know why Merlin does it. Cats have scent markers on the sides of their jowls and do it in order to leave their scent on you and mark you as "their human". It's why they often rub themselves on your leg.

I hope Garfunkel will heal soon and I'm sending belly rubs his way.

Ouch! Poor Garfunkel. :(

My Simon does it too - a lot. So now I have to worry about him getting a boo-boo like that as well.
Barney does this too. I'll keep an eye out for this.

Do you have any zippers on the cushions that he might have rubbed against?
Poor baby, hope he is better soon.
Yuki has rubbed her eye raw like that as well. Your poor dog. It probably hurts a little, but he still wants to rub rub rub. It irritates ME more than anyone else when I see them do it.
Ew! That looks painful! Is your furniture made of sandpaper or something? Who knew it could get that abrasive?
Been there. When Ru runs out of furniture he continues along the walls
Sigh.... Edgar does this too. Never has he had a sore like that though from doing it. Mostly he rubs his face after eating. Or after he has a bath. Then he will rub on walls too. Poor Garfunkel :( .

Ouch! Good luck with that!

Pam - Amy'll be at the seminar. You may want to mention it to her. If a sheepdog has done it, she's probably seen it....  Maybe she'll have some insight.

Give the dude a hug.

Poor guy.

Oliver used to do that a lot as well. We always chalked it up to allergies, but I guess it could have been his entropian.
