FOOD/WEIGHT QUESTION

i have a question how heavy should a female sheepdog be at one year of age? She's about 23-24 " in height and about 75lbs

for Breakfast - she has 2 cups of dry food (Marrick Brand Puppy Plate http://www.merrickpetcare.com/store/detail.php?c=14&s=20281 )aa and one carrot and half granny smith apple

and after maybe a milk bone or pigs year some kind of a treat so she doesn't get board

for Dinner - she has one can of wet food (Marrick Canned Brand http://www.merrickpetcare.com/store/detail.php?c=15&s=20292) and 2 cups of dry food

and that's it seems like she can be lil tiny bit over weight. should i stop giving her wet food and put her on a dry food diet? I'm open for suggestions Thanks all![/url]

P.S. Also is this a good brad for Sheepies? whats the best food and popper feeding habits.

seems like a lot of food to me. its hard tell if she is overweight without checking her - you know you should be able to feel her ribs when running your hand over her side (it should feel like the back of your hand)

Well said! Good analogy.

Remember it is better to have a slightly underweight dog than a "fluffy" or "softie" dog. The extra weight puts undue strain on their joints and internal organs. Try cutting back the dry at all feedings by 1/2 cup and just a half can dog food. Also increase the workouts. Sheepdogs are working dogs so building muscle in the rear thighs should be encouraged.
