Hi everyone!

I've been a long, long, long time lurker here at this forum. I've been reading all the antics and helpful advice for about two years. I've had one Old English Sheepdog before that my husband and I rescued that passed away a year and a half ago and now we're just a couple of weeks away from getting our second Sheepie, a puppy this time.

We've never had a puppy before so this is a very new and exciting adventure for the both of us. There have been all kinds of great threads that we've been reading regarding how to prepare for a puppy and how to help housetrain.

We're looking forward to sharing pictures just as soon as we have some. Right now we're about a week off from selecting our puppy, and four weeks away from bringing him home.

Hopefully I'll be making a lot more posts around here in the very near future!

Welcome!!!! and Congratulations on getting a sheepie puppy!!!

I never had a puppy until Heart, my OES, 18 months now...and honestly, I don't think I could have gotten through the first year without the help of all of these GREAT forum members...their advice, suggestions, and experiences were so comforting to me.

Can't wait to see pictures of your BABY....have you picked out a name, yet?????
I agree with Val. I read a ton of books before getting my puppy girls (now 17 months old) and nothing I read was as valuable as the people here on the board have been. I look forward to seeing your photos and reading about your adventures. Welcome to the board, and to puppy parenting!!!

ps... Val; I had no idea Heart was a only month older than Tonks and Luna. How is it that she is SO much more accomplished and so darned mature looking?!?
Welcome and enjoy your new puppy. Sooo exciting. Looking forward to pics.
Welcome to membership and posting! I'm looking forward to watching your pup grow up.

Thank you in advance for sharing! :D

Haha. Yeah. I've had his name picked out for longer than I've had him picked out. His name is going to be Puck.

Thanks for all the other warm welcomes as well! I can't wait to add some pictures to the adorable pictures everyone else has up. :D

its important to think about how a name sounds in different circumstances. A friend of ours had a cat named Summer, and one winter evening they found themselves standing on the back porch screaming "Summer; where are you? SUMMER!!!" when the cat had gotten out. Obviously, the neighbors thought them crazy.

When you are in the dog park yelling "PUCK!", I can think of something it might be confused with. But in my mind, that's awesome and very, very funny.
I like Puck, I think it really suits a sheepie.
Names can be funny, when I rang to make Tiggy's first vet appt, my vet answered the phone himself. He took down all the appropriate details and I turned up for the appt. I asked Tiggy to sit and used her name. "What's her name?" asked the vet nurse. I told her-puzzled. Ah, the vet had written it down as Piggy and they all thought I was really mean for calling a puppy Piggy 8O
Welcome from Florida! I am looking forward to seeing pics of your new pup Puck.

My husband and one of my friends had pointed that out as well. I think it was the very sound-alike reason that they both voted for Puck. It was between that and Pan (since sheepies never really grow up, just like Peter!).

I'm hoping that no one will be too offended when they hear it. ;)
I had the same thing happen when I was herding instinct testing with Chewie.

I said his name (Chew), and the evaluator (who owned the sheep) said "What!?" 8O .....and then said - oh, his name.....
