Ipod or Zune????

OES.ORG SHOUT OUT (hey Ron, that is a good idea for a topic catagory)

hello all, I'm on the fence. I want to get an MP3 player so I can listen to books on tape as I'm walking the dogs or knitting or as a passenger in a car or plane... Does anyone have experience with either? I would like the pros and cons of each and if anyone has had expereince with both, I would love to hear that too. I would like to order it this weekend, as on Amazon, if you sign up for audible.com for a years contract, you get 100 bucks off the price of what ever you buy...

If you already use iTunes, an iPod will work seamlessly. I love all my iPods and iPhones but I don't have any Zune experience. I'm an Apple person so I'd have no interest in swinging the other way. :)
I have an Ipod. And....even ***I*** can figure out how to download songs and work it.

It must be idiot proof

I don't even know what zune is
Ipod all the way... go for the ipod touch! :) I LOVE love love mine....
iPod!!! they are easy and hold tons of music or books. iTunes has books to down load and other places do as well that will work with the iPod.
I agree... iPod all the way. All 3 of my kids have an ipod of some sort (all 3 are different ones... shuffle, touch, and the slim 'original' one). I have the iPhone. I love it. The kids love their iPods. My 14 yr old takes it practically everywhere. My college daughter uses hers to drown out sounds at college when she needs to study. iTunes is easy to use.
I have an iPod and my husband has a Zune - -he really seems to like the Zune---he said he likes the controls better. I have an iPod and have always liked it. If you have a chance, you might go to the local electronics store and try both out. Good Luck!
ipod all the way.
we were the same which one.... we picked ipod. We asked the saleman between the difference of two can not remember the difference now but for my daughter ipod my husband thou would buy the other for him self again I do not remember why.
until it got stolen my hubby had a zune loaved loved loved it !!!!!!

he payed a monthly fee ( not much zat all) to be able to down loads as much as he wanted.

he had the original zune and as much as he wanted the new one he could not justify buying it as microsoft always updated the software for it so it worked just like the new one.

when we get round to he will go out and by a new zune.

he can even play his zune music through his xbox 360

zoe and einy
Not the Zune! Okay I don't have either but I hate Micro$oft.
Okay... I have been looking at all the MP3's and what do you all think about the Creative Zen X-Fi 8 GB Video MP3 Player with Built-In Speaker ????

On amazon if you buy an MP3 player and sign up for Audible.com they will give you 100 bucks off your player..... selected players, but it has alot including IPODs, Zunes, Creative Labs, Sandisk...

I have been looking and the one feature I like is that I can use the speaker part if want to share the book or pod cast with my mum.. and it has a radio... and you can use your SD chip to expand your memory... It is also the size of a credit card... not at all large. Check out the web site on it....

I loved my little creative, til I broke a button on it. Then I got a Sony Walkman 8GB, and I LOVE it! It used windows media player, which I already had on my computer, and I prefer to the Zune software. No Ipod for me because I don't like itunes and prefer to keep fewer programs on my computer.
I have one of the first Creative MP3 players ever created. We refer to it as the brick because it is huge!!! I love their software that comes with it and the controls are super easy; if you like old school audio stuff then the controls are closer to that mindset.
I also have a couple of ipods. The ipod nano is cute and easy and the spinning wheel can entertain you if nothing else. The ipod touch may be one of the coolest toys. Lots of downloads to play with; including the level that you can get!
The other thing is that if you get an ipod there are a ton of accessories that you can get. The market for Creative accessories is slim to none!
Have you looked lately... cause I think you can get speakers and skins and cases and such.... check out the Creative Labs site...

I would have liked them colorful like the Ipods and the Zunes...

I'm pretty sure that I will be getting the Creative Labs Zen...
YES!!!! Another Creative person!!!!

And unless Ginny is going to knit a cover for my brick, I'm not getting a skin for it! I think the big problem with getting accessories is that ipod stuff is everywhere and you can even walk into a Turkey Hill and get ipod accessories whereas the Creative stuff has to come from the site and most people want everything right now. I haven't looked at what Creative has put out lately, I'll have to goo see what's new.
I use a CHEAP River MP3 player and download books from my library site
my grandchildren all have ipods and love them....but they just do music
you have to be careful about .com sites....if you pay for the music then quit paying you can not listen to the songs....books might work the same way...........I just do it for free on the library site....or cheat and download from the libray books to my Media player than my MP3........
