Crock Pot - Chicken this time

I put a package of skinless breasts and one of skinless thighs in the crock pot with one can each of tomato and cream of mushroom soup and one envelope of Lipton onion soup mix. I didn't cut anything up and added no water...

I have no idea how it will turn out, but I hope good. I'm going to serve it with buttered noodles (for those who still eat carbs) and steamed veggies (4 carrots, 1 head cauliflower, 2 brocoli crowns) The soups end up making a gravy or at least when I do this with a chuck roast it does, hope it does here too... keep your fingers crossed on this one.

This one has to wait in line for the crockpot. :D
I bought fixin's for beef stew and a pork roast last night.
And celery and stuff for chicken noodle soup, might be a good way to use the leftovers, right?
My report on the chicken.

It was delicious! moist, gravy was great, served over noodles and steamed veggies on the side. MMMMMMMMMM :yay:
That's good news. :D :D
Good deal! It's on our menu for next Tuesday!
on ours too. Thanks for sharing

Also I have started a binder with all the OES
ideas for cooking.
Need to name it.
Got any ideas?
It didn't taste salty to me, however, I'm pretty sure the sodium levels would be pretty high. So might I recommend that you use low sodium canned soups and leave the Liption or storebrand Onion Soup packet just as is.. If you don't already have the soup, just buy the lower sodium alternatives. I can't tell you how good it was, and so simple. I also did not salt the pasta water or the veggies... to try to make up for the sodium in the canned soups.
:cheer: I'm making this today! I bought the healthier versions of the tomato soup/mushroom soup. And, I'm slicing fresh onions instead of the Liptons.

I LOVE :hearts: crockpot day!!!!

Hmmm, how about Sheepie Forum Food. I don't know why I think alliteration needs to be part of it, lol.

Or Online Edibles...
OES - online edible stuff

:D
Sort of stole that one.
I like that! Hey...if we have a volunteer...we should really put a cookbook together, and sell it to raise money for rescue!!!
Great Idea!!!Deb.
We need a name for the book.
How do we get it printed?
Certainly we have a publisher amongst us!!!!

I don't know about the name. I'll have to think about it, and consult with Pirate.
I know this will sound very strange, but, you will be amazed at the taste of the chicken made this way. I picked this up at a Weight Watcher meeting and thought it was a little wacky. It wasn't, it was great! Take skinless chicken breasts, and boil them, yes boil them in a mixture of 1 can of diet cola (any brand) and a cup of ketchup. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for about 30 to 45 minutes then simmer for about 15 more. (you can also use a crock pot on low for a longer time) The soda/ketchup mix will carmalize and you will have fabulous Bar-B-Q chicken. :D

How many points? The crockpot recipe here (the one I'm making tonight) is 5 points.
As far as W. W. points goes, the value is almost entirely dependent on the size of the chicken serving. 4 oz. would be 3 points. the soda is zero and the ketchup (even though there is some sugar in it) will cook off and spread through the 4 servings is really nothing.
It was great! Tasted very different from what I pictured. LOVED IT, as did Tony. I served his on spagetti. He gave me "permission" to make it again
You thought it was going to have a soupy taste right? That is what I thougt too, that is until I made it. The first time I did it with Chuck Roast and it is so good, so I thought what the heck, try it with chicken.. It was also really good. It makes a great gravy... Great over pasta or mashers. I don't eat pasta or mashers anymore, but I can imagine can't I?

Thanks
Leslie
This one is one deck for tomorrow, I can't wait!!! :D
You'll love it! When Paula came for dinner, Saturday, she tasted the leftovers (no, I didn't serve her leftovers!), and she, too, thought it was great!
Mine was a hit!

I used boneless skinless chiken breast. (Just what I had in the freezer).
We served it over egg noodles. No extra seasoning needed. I used the lower sodium "healthy" soups too. :D
