Can bones really harm your dog?

I rather object to the topic of "can greenies really harm your dog." ANYTHING can really harm your dog if your dog gulps his food.

My oes had an obstruction at 3 and a half months from a bone - a real, made for dog consumption, bone! $620 later... Where is the warning for this? Where is the rawhide warning? Where is the legos warning? I think the topic would better serve dog owners if it were changed to "what happens if your dog does not chew his treats" or something similar.

I feed my dogs greenies, and I feel like I was made out to be a horrible person, as if I am subjecting my dog to torture. I'm sure rawhide people feel the same way when they go to a pet store and the employees (and indeed, other customers, i've seen it!) harass them about it. Anything in your house is potentially dangerous and those photographs should serve as proof that sometimes dogs bite off more than they can chew.

The warning is not intended to make you feel like a horrible person. The warning is intended to warn people who may be unaware of the possibility. Obviously you aren't such a person, so you need not be offended.

Yes, anything can harm your dog, but Greenies are ADVERTISED AS SAFE and digestible. Greenies also sells bits that can be fed instead of bones. Have you looked at the page? Have you read at the bottom?

If you have pictures of your dog's surgery, I will gladly post a topic, and publish the pictures along with the product's name, too.

It will be entitled: "Can XYZ Seriously injure your dog?" and you can protect the millions of dogs out there from suffering the same fate as your dog.

If you have pictures of a rawhide or a lego extraction surgery, the same will apply.
susan,
I also did not know that raw hide was bad.....at 2.5 months my puppy had a blockage $540 later she is finally back on track!

Oh Yeah, I can beat everyones story

My sheepdog at the ripe old age of 14 became blocked. After 2 days of x rays we saw what ever it was, was not moving.

Went in for sx, and we removed a hair tie from her bowel. The Dr said "I think there is something else in there." "I said no that can't be, I know which hair tie that is and that's all of it!"

We then followed a string from her bowel to her stomach,.........
Inside the stomach was the rest of the string, a cat toy, a shoe lace, and her x large christmas bandanna with santa's picture on it.

The funny thing, or not so funny thing is it was almost MARCH!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess when we would leave her during the days, she would eat things to make her self feel better.

CRAZY DOG!!!!
OH MY that for sure surpasses me...lol...a bandana holy cow![/b] 8O
Oh my. I thought mine was bad! Thank goodnedd you baby is ok!
