OESCA Health Survey

The Old English Sheepdog Club of America's Health & Research Committee is appealing to ALL owners of Old English Sheepdogs to participate in the Global Online Health Survey at www.oeshealth.org

This survey is open to all owners of OES from all countries. If you have owned an OES in the last 10 years (1998-2008), you are encouraged to participate in this quick and easy health survey.

The purpose of this survey is to collect data for owners, breeders and scientists, to protect and improve the health of the breed. The survey will be online until May 15, 2009

OESCA asks you to help spread the news about the health survey. Here are some suggestions of how you can help:

~Forward this to your OES friends and post it to OES e-lists.
~Contact owners of dogs you placed, as puppies, adults or through rescue.
~Post a link to the survey on your website.
~Inform readers in canine newsletters or publications (if you need information please contact Madeline at waynenik@aol.com)
~Pass this on. The more times someone is encouraged to take the survey, the more likely they are to participate.

Remember, This is a global project. The more we know about the health concerns of the breed, the more support we can provide for canine disease research and for the latest health information so valuable for OES owners and breeders.

HINTS AND TIPS FOR COMPLETING THE HEALTH SURVEY (For additional information, click on www.oeshealth.org)

~Becoming familiar with the survey. You will find the survey takes little time and is user friendly. Begin by completing the survey for one dog. This will result in a good grasp of the questions.
~Follow this step by making a list of the dogs that lived with you the last 10 years.
~Once you have that list, make notes of the health issues those dogs had. If they had no health issues, those dogs should still be reported. We want that information too. Our goal is a complete and accurate profile of the health of the breed.
~If you are unsure of your dogs' health issues, contact your veterinarian for help.
~Do you have a large number of dogs? If so, remember that dogs may be entered a few at a time. Just get started with one or two dogs, and keep track of the dogs you entered. Come back and enter more dogs later.

PLEASE DO NOT PUT OFF TAKING THIS SURVEY.

Because we all care about our dogs' health, participation is a must.
We owe it to the dogs who keep giving and enhancing the quality of our lives.

On behalf of the OESCA Health and Research Committee,
thank you for your dedication, compassion and time.
