rake vs. stripper

I bought a rake with rotating pins a few months ago. I was told that this would remove the undercoat. I just wanted to ask you all if the rake does remove the undercoat or do I have to buy the stripper to do that? It's kind of confusing.

ARe you trying to remove the undercoat or not remove it?
I use a rake and it removes some of the excessive undercoat. On mine th epins are stationary though.
Yeap I use a rake which works well to remove the undercoat or a slicker. You don't need a stripper this is not for the oes coat.
I use a rake with free moving pins and it's great. :D have never used a stripper   (um brush that is! )
Ok, thanks. Yes Butterstotch, I want to remove the undercoat because her coat is matting. I was just making sure I was removing the undercoat with the rake. Thanks every one!
