Sheepie stole my salami

My sheepie stole the better portion of a 2 lb. stick of premium dry Italian salami. The salami was on our kitchen table, there must have been at least 1 1/2 lbs of it left, and when we noticed it had disappeared, so had the dog. When we found him, there were only remains of the wrapping, and he had a strong salami breath.

Maybe he was concerned about my diet, but now I'm worried about indigestion and any GI problems this may cause. He ate the whole thing, strings and wrapping included. Should I be concerned?

Watch him carefully for signs of stomach distress. Make sure he continues to poop (although perhaps that warning will be unnecessary) and watch for the string and other stuff in it. If the string emerges but not fully, don't pull on it very much, it could be dangerous. I'd also be worried about pancreatitis from a large fat meal -- watch for excessive thirst. Then again, the salami was quite salty...

Of course if you are still concenred, call your vet!
