Body aroma and paw-pad licking

Hi.  My lovely OES (Winston) is a pure breed aged 4 years.   He has been neutered and is very affectionate, and well behaved.  Alas, he does tend to lick the pads of his feet and delights in so doing, much to our annoyance.  He also tend to smell not unlike scorched ironing, mainly when he relaxes and/or sleeps.  I know he is allergic to beef products and cereal products in all forms, and this is easy to overcome, but the body aroma is somewhat overpowering at times despite his being bathed monthly.   Are there any suggestions to overcome this distressing malady?  Regareds.... David

There is a thread a little further down about doggy odour, its titled smelly dog. There's lots of ideas there about where to start, as it could be ears, or skin, etc. If that post doesnt help at least it will narrow down the search a bit and you can ask questions here of more experienced people than me.
I've done a little research on this topic this week (with four dogs its always something) these two cobined could indicate an overgrowth of yeast. google yeast in canines - there is lots of info out there. Also its something to bring up to your vet when you talk to him/her.
