Wound on....testicles?????

We are looking after our friend's OES, Matunus, this weekend. For a myriad of reasons that I won't get into right now, Matunus has not yet been neutered. He turned 1 in November, I think, so he is a big boy will fully grown and dropped testicles. Matunus is shaved so his testicles are very noticeable (I feel it necessary to note this so you don't think I have an odd desire just to check them out or anything!). Yesterday I noticed that one of them has a little open wound on it and is sort of, well, oozing (for lack of a better word). It isn't bleeding but is a white-ish colour, and this little wound, about the size of a penny, looks kind of like a peeled grape. We lightly touched it to verify that it was in fact wet and it wasn't just snow, and Matunus didn't seem to mind. In fact, he doesn't even seem to know that anything is awry down there.

What can this be?

Matunus is going to the vet on Friday for another issue anyway, so I will mention to my friend when she comes to pick him up that this issue should be examined also, but my curiosity is piqued. Tucker IS neutered so it isn't something I need to be personally concerned with, I am just very curious.

Any thoughts?

Very well could be a wound, caught his toys on something. May also be a tumor or skin warty thing (technical term). I'd bet wound. By all means tell the owner to get them checked out! Hopefully the vet urges removal of the toys.

Simone is sporting a royal purple t-shirt as she caught her side on something and ripped open a hole. We've been thru this so often with the other dogs, we know when stitches are needed and when not. This is not.

Dogs can injure themselves running thru brush/shrubs/etc.
Our 1st OES had several episodes like this. He was an intact male too (at the time).

I never really figured out what caused it - i assumed it was a scrape or abrasion that started it. He wasn't a licker, but he did lick at the spot a bit after it was there.

We eventually had him neutered just to solve the problem. I was afraid one of the times he would get a more serious infection. It worked too!
