Well last night my LR ceiling starting leaking. GRRRRRRRRRRRR ![]() Same place as before. Now we have to tear down the drywall and insulation. I know it is under warrenty but just to have this happen after so much money. This LR is a addition that was here when we bought the house. They tell me the pitch of the roof is to low. The snow just piles up and we get a ice dam. I don't know how to correct this. Any help out there with ideas??? |

I'd ask the roofer. |
I have been fearing the same myself for some time now... fingers crossed, looking at some sizable dams up there.
The first issue is roof ventilation, keeping the roof cold. Since that hasn't really worked all that well, the second approach will be (for me) putting up some roof heating wires at the dam line to drain away any water. My next call will be to the carpenter adn the roofer and see which one is going to take responsibility. LOL ya.... that'll work. |
that heat wire is what we are looking at too. Have to see how to wire it in.
There was all new insulation up there too. Darn!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
in the meantime you may have to rake it. |

that really stinks. What a lot of work to find and repair the leak.
Go to diychatroom.com post a question for Ed the roofer. HE KNOWS HIS STUFF. he will tell you exactly what you should be making sure the roofer is doing and using even for a low pitched roof. He has helped me out in the past with a foreclosure project we had been working on. Very helpful and Knowlegeable! GOOD LUCK! |
