Indianapoli, IN : Please loan me a LRG Flight Crate !!!

Hello!

:D

Anyone near Indianapolis, IN have a large travel kennel I can borrow? (for a rehome OES to be flown out to California). I'll send it back >directly< via USPS. Need it within the next three weeks. The person sending the pup actually lives in Lafayetteville, so that would work, too.

Please pass this on if you know anyone thereabouts.

Thank you.

btw: the 'pup' is 75 lbs. :D

Thanks!!!

With the weight of the kennel it would probably be cheaper to buy a new one at walmart or something for 50-60 bucks than it would be to ship it.
I think it would be closer to $100.00 for that size crate if it is an airline crate.

But shipping may cost as much as sending them money to buy a crate.
As someone who has to return her crate to the breeder, let me tell you...

It's a huge hassle. Like... I still haven't returned the one given to me b/c
1. lines are too long at this post office
2. finding a box
3. cost of shipping

...so I've been procrastinating and would have rather paid for it (in fact, I even asked if i could but they would like it back). Plus, it would be easier to trust you but it would be weird to send it to some random person, and then hope it gets to you to return.

Is this pup for you? No details or pics to share? :)

Why can't the breeder/person re-homing purchase one for you? It would come in handy for you to have one anyway.
when Henry was sent to us he was in a hired crate that was to be left at the airport where the company keeps them on standby it was quick, easy and best of all we didn't have to worry about returning the crate......maybe look into hiring a crate? :)

There doesn't appear to be a "Lafayetteville" in Indiana. :lmt:

you don't ned a box if you ship it US mail - they just slap the label and postage on the crate.
That's what I was thinking to, but when I called my local post office, they told me I needed to find a box. :? Maybe b/c you said that, I'll just try it and hope someone different is helping me.

Most of the time, you can ship dang anything.

Anyway, it's still not what I'd like to spend my time driving into town to do when I've got lo's with me. ...that's why I offered to just pay for it since the cats have made it their den.

I agree. Save yourself some money... pay for a new crate at the sender's end.
It was almost $100 to UPS Bumble's crate back to the breeder 8O
One positive is that you simply stick the UPS label on the crate... no box needed.
I've shipped pups in the medium sized crate from walmart, they are about 65 dollars here. I guess for a large one it would likely be closer to 100 but I would still probably just buy it, and if you don't need it after then you can always sell it....

I agree. They are always selling those large coconuts at tropical destinations with the stamps already on it. I once mailed a cowboy boot with stamps on it.
I adopted a dog to a family in MN. she flew here
brought the crate as "baggage and flew back with him.
I think she found that was the most cost effective.

Maybe that is an option for your new boy...
Seems like Layfayette would be close to a mojor
airport :?:
Saying that I am not familiar with Indianna.

Good Luck
Okay, FWIW and for anyone else who reads this thread in the future.... I just mailed back the MEDIUM size crate and the cost was not bad at all. Was 33 dollars UPS ground.
