Grumble about lack of sleep

I am soooo tired  Wayne has been overseas for work for the past week and a bit, and I'm not sleeping well. This is really weird usually when he is away I sleep fine but this time I get to sleep OK but wake up about 2am and then cant sleep. It seems like every little noise disturbs me.
I am running a teleconference today and am supposed to be preparing it but I'm sitting here with another coffee (gotta try something) staring at the computer feeling brain dead. 8O Two furkids happily snoring away on the couch, lucky ducks, wish it was me. Note to self, consider career paths for the furkids, they need to get out and earn the dog food. :D
Well best go get some paracetamol for the headache and get cracking. Anyone know any good rememdies for staying asleep or getting back to sleep, the camomile tea is not doing the trick and Wayne's not back till the end of the week. 8O 8O 8O
Just went to medicine cabinet for paracetamol and looked in the mirror :cow: 8O A week of poor sleep is a VERY bad thing. Note to self, cover or smash every mirror in the house :P

Well have you tried any OTHC meds to sleep?
I to have been not sleeping for long at night.
I go to sleep ok but sleep only 3 hours.
If you find something that works lets us know.
I feel your pain. I'm a chronic insomniac and it's the worst to not get enough sleep. It affects everything and it only gets worse the longer you go without it. If it were for prescription sleep meds, I'd never be able to look in mirror again either. :(

I hope things improve soon. Maybe have a drink before bed, if it's something you can do? I find that if I've run out of sleep meds, a drink can sometimes help me stop thinking about not sleeping while I'm not sleeping.
Have you tired reading a really boring book or watching a really slow tv show?I find Inspector Morse bores me to sleep in 15 minutes or less every time. Not joking.
Thanks for all those suggestions especially the have a drink one. That one I LIKE. They all work at getting me to sleep but dont seem to keep me asleep. Oh well if it keeps up I'll be plowing through the books this year.  Off to bed now. Wish me luck. :D
Few glasses of wine helps

Gee I must of been married tooooooo long, I actually enjoy when hubby is away, he snorks like a fog horn so when I have the bed to Myself YAY peacefull night sleep. :cheer:

Shhhh Mim don't tell him I said that :P
Lisa!!! snort snort...

Mim, I feel for you. Have no answer but wanted to offer support and hugs. I'm a chronic insomiac myself and wake up every morning at 3 am and 5 am. I too envy my lazy couch potatoes and hope to be one day reincarnatd as a dog or cat.
The only thing that works for me is grabbing a book or watching stupid info commercials that seem to be the only thing on in the wee hours of the morning.
alchohol will make you fall asleep fast - but yu will wake up in the middle of the night. the best thing to do is avoid sugar (and caffeine if it effects you) during the day and have some protein - milk or yogurt before bed.

that and getting some early day exercise usually will do the trick.
I fall asleep if I drink "sugar water". My mom used to make it for me when I was a child. She put a bit cold water in a glass, only 1/2 full, but loads of white sugar and stir it. I always fall asleep latestly after 30 minutes! Dont know why it works for me??!! Maybe it works for you as well!!??
The single most important thing I read when I was struggling at the worst point of my insomnia was this:

You won't die because of insomnia. There has never been a case of someone dying because of insomnia.

I know it feel horrible and it is just awful to go through a day or a week or a lifetime feeling exhausted, but you won't die from it. Just don't fall asleep behind the wheel.

So the first thing to know is don't worry about the insomnia itself, don't let worrying about getting sleep and don't worry about how much time you have to sleep before you have to get up.

Now, I had the luxury of stopping to try to fit my sleep into the rest of the world's schedule. I just decided that I was going to sleep when I was sleepy no matter what time of day it was, and that really helped me to get some much needed sleep, then I was able to shift it around to more normal times. But I still don't try to force it.

Good luck.
Oh I certainly wont die of lack of sleep :D I will just wish I was dead AND grumble a lot
