Best way to stop diarrhea?

Sofa's been having watery diarrhea for the last couple of days, I caught her perched on the planter eating the grass before this happened and found a few leaves on her stool last night.

Her apetite are normal, as her activity level, she's energetic as ever and does not seem to be in tummy pain. We'll send her to the vet today if she's still feeling bad. In the meantime, is there anything we can give her to stop the diarrhea? I would not like her to dehidrate or feel worse.

Thanks!

My vet prescribed the white colored liquid Immodium. I put about a tablespoon of it in his food. Also when he gets diarrhea, I feed him white rice and beef for a few days. With those two together it usually goes away. I hope that helps
others have recommended white rice for upset stomach, but I found my pup just plays with it.

eating grass is usually a good sign that their stomachs are bothering them. my old Bouvier was def. a grass eater when her stomach was amuck.
Pumpkin always works for me. Not the pie filling. The 100% natural canned pumpkin. A tablespoon a couple of times a day. The great thing about pumpkin is that it works for both maladies - diarrhea and constipation!

Good luck!

You might want to consider taking pup to your vet if the diarrhea persists for more than a few days.
I posted a recipe that is somewhere on this page that includes pumpkin. You give one treat a day, and it helps stop that problem. :)
You can also give PeptoBismol (in tablet form is easier or she'll end up PINK) or Immodium (I prefer the pill form). I would try the Pepto Bismol first and if it continues or starts up again - have her checked out. Diarrhea is usually the bodies way of ridding itself of bacteria and/or toxins - and it is sometimes worse stopping it.

Hope Sofa is feeling better!

What kind of grass did she eat? Some house plants have pretty bad effects on dogs.
Eating grass is not a sign that the dog has an upset belly.

Dogs eat grass because they instinctively crave it. In the wild when a dog kills its prey, the stomach and its contents are usually the first to be eaten.

The partially digested vegetation found in the stomach provides valuable nutrition for the canine.

Unfortunately, when domestic pets try and mimic the eating habits of their wild cousins, they often vomit, since the grass has not been predigested for them.

If your dog craves grass, boil some vegetables (predigest them!) and offer them as a treat. My dogs really like green beans.

You'll be your dogs best friend!!!!!
