Plane Crash in the Hudson

Has anyone else been watching this? Unbeilievable that there appears to be no major injuries.

yep, it came on TV 5 mins after it happened. They think it was birds that hit the plane. Everyone got out safe. Robin Roberts saw it happen and called ABC.
I had just finished reading an e-mail from my Mom who was talking about my sister flying back from Florida to Syracuse when I heard it on the news. Not knowing details, I called my mom who had just seen it as well. Once i clarified my sis was still safe and delayed at the charlotte airport I had to tell my Mom five times to get OFF the phone and e-mail everybody else who had just received that e-mail 8O

Looks like it could have been much worse. Nice work by the pilot at a guess. I'd still never get on another plane again after that had I been one of those passengers. I already hate flying as it is. Brrrr!

Unfortunately, mr. j called it. Things happen in 3's, and after a helicopter crashed in louisiana, then at Texas A&M, and now this... Sad
Just heard it on the news here in Melbourne.
They are saying here that no one was seriously injured, which is totally amazing. 8O
Some very lucky people on that plane.
The people on that flight were very lucky. It started with the runway they took off from at LGA and then having a pilot with many, many years of experience, plus the best emergency services in the world in NYC.

On Tues at around that time I was driving up the West Side Highway. I saw a kayaker in the river and commented to my husband that he must be crazy to be out in the Hudson in that freezing cold weather with those currents. Once again, the people on that aircraft were very lucky!

Kathie

P.S. By the time they had finished the rescue the aircraft had drifted almost three miles down the river.
Been on the news live as it happened, amazing all the ferrys taking the passengers off so quickly and no one so far has been reported missing. The pilot is a hero for his landing and so are the crew for getting everyone off in time.

Think one of the worst part would be the freezing conditions if they had to jump into the hudson so all the quick responses and plucking some from the river was a miraculous effort by all.
The first video I saw showed the plane "floating" down the river, but they actually reported it as being towed. Possibly to help keep afloat long enough for the rescue.
Kudos to the pilot and copilot for a great job.
I can't believe the plane crashed and they are saying EVERYONE survived....That in itself is amazing!

dont forget the one here in Denver over Christmas too.....

After seeing that one, and this today I am very leary of flying with a dog again now. I never was before (obviously) and flew Dee and Duncan both and have shipped dogs.......... but after WATCHING both the Continental and then the US air today...... I maybe driving down to Mexico City now for shows.
One of my friends has a frequent flight from La Gaurdia to
Charlotte.
He was not on it today! :phew:
I am glad all were safe...what a miracle!
I think it is nothing short of a miracle that everyone survived, and there are no major injuries. There was a Mother with a small babe... can you imagine???

The flight crew and pilots deserve kudos, that is certain!
That pilot was truly a hero! Apparently he is a safety trainer as well! They said he set the plane down (in the water) perfectly, as though he were landing on a runway.

Do we still have ticker tape on Wall Street? Probably not. Too bad. This man deserves his own ticker tape parade!

I completely agree...that pilot really had it together. A real life, honest to God hero.

yes they do - some environmentally safe ticker tape parade thing now and as always it then gets all swept up. Maybe they will have one for him when it warms up - NYC is big on ceremonial honoring of heros.
In the UK they showed a computer simulation of how the pilot had to glide the plane into the river. He did a great job.
