Throwing up & loose stool

mmm.. My 2 fav things! 8O JK!

So my parents lovely puppy Peaks has had these problems since we took her home from the pound.

She throws up far less often then she did at first, but she still does. It is mostly clear with little to no food in it. She was tested for parvo at the pound and thank goodness it was a negative. We can tell when she is going to throw up because she gets this sound in her stomach, like when you drink too much water and jiggle your tummy and you can hear the water sloshing around. And as far as the stool goes, it is pretty "loose" but not all the time.

My father did take her to the vet, they gave him tablets to give to her and they seemed to help, but not really that much. We also went to a specialty feed store and they recommened a certain type of food which helped a little.

Im just curious is this is common at all? And if so, are there any remedies?

Thanksss

I do't really have any advice... sorry. I just wanted to say I hope it gets figured out soon. She can't possibly be feeling all that great with those issues going on....
She probably needs to be dewormed... the fecal can test negative even though they have worms, and it can't hurt to worm them.
Have you had it to a vet since getting it? You should see a vet of your choice and not only rely on the vet or pound staff...
does she need feeding more often? yorkies throw up when they are starving, just like water or bile? just a thought..hope you get sorted
worming is an option - but many sheepies have sensitive stomachs and finding the right food can be a trial and error process. some can only eat their kibble and even a milkbone will upset their system. full blood work up at the vet can help diagnose problems like pancreatitis.

one of ours had issues until we switched him to raw food and every now and again he will have an upset if he gets into something he should't - or eats too much. I keep metronidizole on hand for such occassions - my vet gives me a reserve supply, bu tthis is after years of interaction with the dog.
Yes, rule out worms and giardia.
I'd ask if three consecutive doses of Panacur might help.

Then I'd look into adding a probiotic... not just yogurt but a good probiotic
for dogs. They often come in powder form. Again, ask the vet.

I had forgotten that I also put the dogs on a probiotic. We use Naturesfarmacy. Unless you have an unusual vet though, they aren't really into nutrition and supplements. they will usually sell you some Purina probiotic for a sick dog. you can find a number of probiotics on the web and I think there was a discussion of them here as well you can search for.

I agree with the panacur. I worm my dogs once a year with it as a routine.

I've had good luck with ProPlan Sensitive Skin & Stomach dog food. My oldest boy had problems with runny stool off & on. The slighest thing would upset his intestinal tract. Since changing him to this food 14 months ago, we haven't had one bout of runny stool with him (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!)

Can't suggest anything for the vomitting. I don't run into that problem unless they really are sick.

I feed my guys pro plan chicken and rice, but my one older girl gets runny stools on and off since being on it. I tried the sensitive skin and stomach one too but couldn't stand the smell of it LOL
If it really makes much of a difference I might consider it again.
