I'm in Florida and my sisters dog, a pug has very bad itches. She feeds Iams WC and I want to see if its the food.

stop th efood and use a single protein source - preferably no tin the food already - or an allergy food with small molecules - I thik you need to get it from a vet.

after three weeks ( I think that was the time frame I was given) you introduce a single protein source at a time.

I didn't/could't/wouldn't pay for the vet food so I put Marley on Taste of the wild fish for about a month and then reintroduced other protein sources - turned out her culprit is cooked chicken. It took a week for her symptoms - itchy ears - to go away.
Has the dog had a flea / tick treatment recently? We found out that Oliver was allergic to Advantax because he was itching non-stop; to the point of drawing blood.
We are working our way thru the carb and proteins with MO due to another problem. It's slow go but so far we've not found the trigger.....I'm guessing wheat, corn or soy but we aren't there yet.

Doing this instead of the vet food which even the vet said is something like rice cakes to the dogs; crunch but that's about it.
