Car Wash
I am back home disappointed....Bert showed little concern at the big mop crashing on our jeep. Are all sheepdogs so calm at the car wash?  |

| ABSOLUTELY NOT. Obe is terrified of the car wash monster. I went one day and he was in the back. I put him in the front seat with me and we went through the car wash. He freaked out big time. Did not like the fact that something was spraying water, soap, making noise cover up the windows, etc. He climbed into the extra cab and curled up in corner, barking, shaking whimpering etc...So he does not go to the car wash anymore to say the least. I felt bad, it scared him to death. Such a mean father. |
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We took Sammie thru the drive-thru car wash a few weeks ago, and she shook uncontrollably!! Needless to say, we will never do that again!  |
| Several years back a lady got caught in a car wash. Idiot teenager couldn't tell there was still someone inside when he shut the doors. Must have been deaf too.........or real mean. Anyway lady had a cell phone and called daughter (??!!) who called store to open the doors. In mean time dog who was OK going into the car wash was totally freaked out after 20 minutes inside. |
| I take all three of my girls through the car wash and talk to them the whole time. Violet generally just sits on her couch (back bench) and looks out the window. The Aussies get a little nervous, but seem ok as long as I keep talking. lol
I had a friend who was caught in a carwash and for years would not go through one. I didn't know this until one day we where at lunch and on the way back to work, I stopped at a car wash. As we where going in she told me her story. I told her I would do the car wash another time, but if she was willing I would help her get through this. So we went through the car wash and I talked to her the whole time about fun things. One trip through and now she takes her own car on her own.  So I use the same theory with the dogs. |
| Chewie is just fine through the car wash too.
I usually do the self-serve one, so it is me squirting the water at the car - so maybe that helps. We also go through the automatic one on occasion, but he still is fine. |
