Plastic palettes for garage?

This is perhaps the stoopidest question I have ever asked, but someone here has an answer!

I keep 2 of my dining room chairs in the garage. I have a big piece of cardboard underneath them to protect against water (like from snow melting off my car). But that is very unattractive and I'm trying to think of alternatives. Are there such things as plastic palettes?

I do NOT want to hang them or put them on shelves. I just need something water-resistant that will elevate them an inch or two off the floor. And it needs to be about 3 foot by 5 foot.

Ideas??? Remember, I do not want to put hooks in the wall and hang them.

Yep, there are plastic pallets. When I was in the printing business, we used them for paper all the time. Sounds like they'd work great for what you're describing.

Check local "free" lists, like Craig's List to avoid big shipping costs. Local manufacturing or retail companies may be willing to part with one or two. Some are available on eBay but the shipping cost may be prohibitive.

I know someone in Elk Grove Village that may be able to help you if that's not too far away. Just PM me.

You could build a little platform out of milk crates.

If you can't find any free milk crates, they sell milk crate like things at many stores. You could also pick up some large Rubbermaid like containers and put two legs in each... and have some extra "dry floor storage."
I was thinking of these kennel decks from Petedge - I have them for my now ATB labs. They have held up perfect for 10 years or so.
I see they also have other, similar products that may work.

The full link didn't work. Follow this, then click on Home and Kennel, then outdoor products, then decking.
dawn do you think those would work under a porch? I need something to keep the muddy paws down when they go under there to dig
The kennel decks are exactly what I want, but too expensive. I had thought of the Rubbermaid storage and maybe with it being after Christmas, they will be on sale. Nita, I did find plastic pallets on Craigslist but then realized they wouldn't fit in my car!!!! My little Honda Civic.

Keep the ideas coming.....

there were two prices on the decking - one was only $12 (FOR A 2X2) probably just too small for a chair to set on though.....
Just curious why they'd need to be plastic?

Couldn't you use a wooden pallet? They're so easy to come by.
Because the wood absorbs water and swells. Plus plastic is much classier.

The ones I have are the grey ones. I bought 2, thinking I would use the 2nd one when the 1st wore out. Guess what? - it never wore out! The other one is still in my garage - brand new all buried behind stuff. 8)

Not sure how they would be under a deck. Would they dig around it? Otherwise, I'm sure they would last. :D Mine has set outside, baking in the summer sun and the winter freezing, and never did a thing to it.
I decided to go the cheap route (actually, the FREE route). I found small plastic food storage cups that I'm not using and they fit nicely over the chair legs. Just enough to keep the legs dry. So out goes the cardboard!
actually the perfect solution!!
Excellent solution!

Note to self... When attending a party at Paula's Place, since I assume the spare chairs will need to be put into use, politely decline offers of take-home leftovers until garage chair protectors are located.

LoL - yep, you got it!

Good thinking though - totally practical. :D
