How do you get hair out of the dryer?

I searched the site, and I found some suggestions for not getting hair on your clothes while grooming (like wearing a rubber apron or wearing no clothes at all....), but nothing about getting the hair off your clothes that have just come out of the wash.

We don't (or didn't) think we had too big of a hair shedding issue, we vacuum a few times a week, dust and wash our clothes regularly. We do use the lint roller, but it is not always convenient and timely ripping off the tape every 3 swipes of your clothes....especially when they aren't that full of hair!

Some of our sheets and clothes come out of the dryer FULL of hair! Any other suggestions? We have a HE unit and cannot use anything that is high in perfumes. I would also like to pass this info onto my parents since we are heading to their house for Christmas and they will probably find a few strands throughout their house. 8)

Thanks for your help and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

PS I forgot to tell you, I know that if we shave Maggie, that would cut it down a lot, but it's -30+ wind chill and I think she wouldn't want to be naked out in it to go potty! :D

I don't know the answer to this but I would love to know! I can't believe I never thought of asking  The ones that don't come off with the lint roller... well, we just pick the damn things off
I'm actually surprised to hear that!! I'm a super clean freak, and thankfully our OES doesn't have that problem. I've never found hair after I've washed my clothes, and I would notice and be anal about it if there were. Again, I'm thankful because that's one of the reasons why I wanted to get an OES.

Where does your OES sleep or eat? Is it away from the clothes, closet, laundry room?
Well, she hops up in our bed for a bit, but then moves to the floor. She is on TOP of the blankets, so we would think that our sheets wouldn't be COVERED, but they are. I have a feeling that the material that they are could be part of the problem, but there has to be something we could do!

Oh, I forgot to mention that sometimes if I spray anti- "static-cling" on my dress clothes right after I put them on, the hair doesn't stick as bad. But the catch is, the clothes have to be hair-free to start.
how often do you clear your lint filters? I usually only find dog hair (red) on my husband's socks and it isn't OES hair :D :D
after brushing panda...i am covered with loose hair.....i have one of those lint brushes (the red two sided kind)...i use that then throw them in the washer.....you can buy one of those dryer balls and that seems to help pick up extra fuzz and lint....it works great on towels too!

clean your lint trap after every use!
I was wondering it those little bitty dryer ball things work, too. Between the dog and the cat, I always have stray hairs.....nothing is more aggravating than looking down and seeing hair and fuzzies all over yourself after getting out of the shower......(is that ever an opening for a smarta$$ comment or what, lol!) I have several lint brushes as well. Two or three in the house, one in my truck and one in my husband's truck.

Dryer balls? That sounds dirty... J/K I have never heard of them. I would assume you could find them at Target. What is the advertised job that it accomplishes? Do you have to clean the ball like the lint traps? Ia m so interested in these balls!!!
here is a web site for them

Those look cool. I might have seen them at BBB?
It might be time to clean the dryer vent, the one that goes through the wall to outside. It take someone like ServicePro, Steamatic or such to do it as they have to snake the vacuum through the pipe. My dryer always works much better afterward. I have it done when I have the heat duct work cleaned. Also you might want to remove the front plate on the dryer machine, under the door and check out the "guts". For some reason some lint escapes to under there. Why, how, I don't know.

I'm never completely doghairless. I have to be very careful when cooking for others......don't want to share my kids with others.
Vacuuming is essential. I have a Roomba that vacuums twice a day. If you are finding a lot of fur in your sheets, and the dog doesn't sleep on the sheets, then you are tracking it there or it is sticking due to static cling.

For the laundry
1.We use various grades and lengths of tulle fabric. Toss them in the dryer with anything you suspect is going to have a lot of fur. The bit of abrasive netting seems to loosen the fur enough to aid the dryer in pulling it out.

2. Use fabric softener. They make many kinds without perfumes. Typically I use the sheet version that I toss in with the tulle. I like this method since I can adjust the number of sheets used with just how hairy a load seems. Since you do use the anti-static sprays, you may want to try the liquid fabric softener too.

3. The sort of fabrics make a huge difference. Try to not buy fabrics that seem to cling to fur, i.e. try bamboo sheets instead of flannel. The bamboo can be really toasty too. Every thing I buy is based upon fur not sticking to it!

4. Start fresh: send your clothes to the dry cleaners and let a professional get you back on track.

5. Test out various lint removers. Scotch makes a good one:
http://www.3m.com/brands/scotch/furfighter/ that works well. I also like the rubber ones: http://www.spacesavers.com/furremover.html

For the dog
1. The more you brush, the less fur there is to shed. I had a Chessie that shed non-stop. Thankfully he enjoyed being vacuumed. A shop vac with an extension hose can be a wonderful tool!

2. Unless you must have your dog in full show coat, a puppy cut will shed less. I have mine shaved down in the summer and then they stay in a puppy cut in the winter. Even when I lived back east my dog stayed in a puppy cut, due to fur management. She had a sweater for those bitterly cold days. Since I had to walk her on a leash, it made potty time very efficient. Neither of us were in the cold very long!

Good luck... it is a never ending struggle!
Perhaps it is the humidity in your house or lack of . In our previous house there was never a problem with dryness or dog hair but here in our new house since winter set in I am finding the air dry and Dutchs hair on my clothes in or out of the dryer. I'm going to buy a humidifier and hope that solves the problem

Please let me know if the humidifier works...I was noticing that our house is extremely dry....especially since we have been gone for a week and a half. Maybe that is the MAGICAL answer!

I am also going to go get the dryer ball and the red-lint brush later this afternoon.

Wendy don't laugh but before I get a humidifier DH suggested that I put a bit of water in the tub and see if that would help. I did (it's a bit of a pain letting the water out in the morn so I can have my shower but..) I no longer am covered in dog hair so I think it works and I am now going to get one
I have two medium hair cats too...so hair is everywhere in my house. Why anyone in this house ever wear black is a mystery( guilty ). I am usually covered with it at the gym. Cracks me up when people look at me and say...you must have dogs. :P

I am only going to be in the company of OES owners and then no one will even notice.
I figured this out. My son had some old baseball socks. They were purple and stretchy. If you have dry hands or fingernails they catch like some material does. So I threw four of them in the dryer loose and there was no hair on the dryer door! The socks were covered.
