Adapex or Phentermine (sp?)

So i can't remember if i told y'all but on October 27th i started taking Phentermine. Which is a cravings curber/appetite suppressant mixed in with some energy! Combined with DIET and EXERCISE you can loose a boat load of weight semi-quickly.

I'm about to TOTALLY begin a personal BRAG rant; so if you are in a ba hum bug mood i don't suggest reading further:

After 5.5 weeks of taking it and being on a high protein, low sugar low carb diet and exercising. I lost 27lbs!!! I started out at 181lbs and I'm 5'6" my BMI was 34% 8O So i decided i needed to get busy and get healthy, so my doctor suggested this little weight loss encouragement aid as he called it. And it has helped a bunch. My entire life i was slender, and nobody on either side of my family has had a problem with weight so i knew my problem was lifestyle
I'm so psyched and i probably will quit taking it after the new year as i will be at a good weight and body fat % and now that i know i have it in me to resist ice cream every evening or the vending machines at work I'm golden  With the last 15 pounds thats melted off i started to see some really NICE changes in my body, everything is toning up and my husband has even complained that I'm not a very good pillow anymore
So all my scrubs are falling off of me, which makes me look like a) I'm drowning in my clothes and b) my clothes are trying to eat me! and i have to put my belt on the 5th hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can not express how exciting that is for me. Seems like i was healthy for me entire life then the past 4 years I've been packing on the pounds, i forgot what it was like to have clothes not fit right b/c they were too BIG 8O
So I've requested gift cards to the mall so that i can go shopping once I've decided to stop "actively" trying to loose major pounds (as in super restrictive dieting)! Once i hit puberty and through most of high school i stayed at 135-140, so i bet that is where my body ends up at.

The only problems I've had with this medicine is that m y face is always HOT and flushed and my fingers are ALWAYS freezing. So I've been pressing my hand s to my face to try to spread the warmth and it's gotten me a few strange looks  And when u take it, ur supposed to watch your blood pressure, mines been within normal range, which is a miracle considering the hell that this past semester was, but everything is all good so far.

Sorry for the bragging rant, but i couldn't resist. I was feeling like i was just going to keep getting bigger and bigger b/c i "couldn't" control myself. Now i know better and don't plan on going back to actually fitting back into my scrubs or using that last hole on my belt :P

That's huge weight loss, congrats!

I wonder why the pill elevates blood pressure. That is a little concerning.

Did you ever hear of Hoodia? A plant from the Kalahari Desert in South Africa. Supposedly the bushmen would take it when hunting for days on end to control their hunger & thirst.
Congrats!!!! keep up the good diet and hope you don't have to take the meds much longer. Never heard of it before.
i think the blood pressure elevation comes from the fact that Adapex is from the stimulant family, it does give you energy. So u have to be careful to make sure that you are exercising and using the added energy appropriately. Your not supposed to take the meds then sit on your butt and eat all day :twitch: if you do that then u can get really twitching and jittery, almost like a panic attack or anxiety attack. Your heart will start to pound in your chest or race really fast. I know, when i was sick with an upper respiratory thing i still took it and i felt like that. I called my doctor and he said not to take it that day if you know you'll be slumped on the couch or physically unable to move about. Once i did that, heart and blood pressure went back to normal and once i was over my cold thingy i started it back up with no problems! U actually have to work on changing by exercising, not just wishing that all that flubber will disappear on its own while you shove a spoonful of ice cream in your mouth

Here's to being healthy :excited: :yay: :phew:
