Fasten seat belt, adolescent turbulance ahead

We have been making good progress with training, but
now having problems with our OES wanting to play tug
of war with the leash on walks. He gets quite adament.
We stop, ignore the behavior, but he resumes.
The gentle leader helped for one day, then he still grabbed the
leash.

Any other suggestions ???????

(We tried bitter apple on the leash, but he likes it !)

I found Olbas (Eucalyptus) Oil a good deterrent......
I've heard if you change the leash to a chain leash - they won't grab it. You could also try putting pepper on the leash.
Thank you to both of you for your reply,
we will be sure to try the suggestions.
(Our leash walking is on hold right now because of the Blizzard)
How about Grannic's Bitter Apple? Lennon and Sofa hate that thing.

Peeper? Ours like to lick it from the saltshakers if they have a chance 8O
