From Baghdad, With Love: A Marine, the War and a Dog Named Lola. Lt Col. Jay Kopelman Timeframes are a little disjointed because the author jumps back & forth. Very heartwarming story. It's Okay to miss the Bed on the First Jump: John O'Hurley. Cute - author sounds just like his TV characters. He truly is a dog-lover. A Three Dog Life:Abagail Thomas. Sad story but interesting memoir of how dogs help a woman whose spouse is brain-damaged. For mystery-lovers, two fictional series to enjoy. Susan Conant, author - Holly Winter and Malemutes set in Cambridge, MA LaurienBerenson, author - Melanie Travis and Standard Show Pooples set in Conn. Happy reading and gift-giving! this should all be available at your local library for your own reading! Joan ![]() |

I second both Conant and Berenson.
Every so often, since I'm a big fan of the (usually) "lighter" mystery genre, I think it would be fun to write one that included a cast of - of course! - performance OES. But then I remember that there would be an readership of about 7, one of them would be my mother - because she'd feel obligated, not because she understood a word of it - and half of them would recognize their dogs as part of the characters and sue me!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Training books are always high on my wish list, so, of course, my family all rush out and buy me SWEATERS. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Though I always get the latest Dick Francis book (if there is one) from my aunt who started that whole addiction about a quarter of a century ago. That's a traditional birthday gift though. Kerry - any good training books you'd add to Joan's list? I've been bad about keeping up with my reading this past year. Kristine |
well not sure how good - but, I just ordered:
1)Susan Garret e-book for weave training (the dvd is coming out in January); 2) Play together stay together - McConnell 3) an old clean run motivation issue 3) Flatwork: Foundation for Agility (Levenson) 4) Agility Tricks (Duford) Can't say how good any of them are since they are mostly to be read. recommendations : 1) Control Unleashed - mcDivitt 2) Virgil Holland's Progressive Training (herding) 3) Ann Witte's DVD (herding) and on my to get list: MINE! |

Thanks, Kerry! I've had the herding book for a few years now, it was a birthday gift, and finally read it after my run-in with the goats ![]() I love anything by Patricia McConnell. And of course everyone has been talking about Control Unleashed. I've got to get back into reading. Kristine |
