The longest month of my life!

Hello to everyone, I’ve been lurking around here for a couple of months, learning as much as I can about OESs, and how best to go about picking the right breeder.

I’ve contacted approximately 20 breeders from around North America, ranging from D. Darvis all the way to receiving a referral for Janet Loehr’s OES’s, neither of which I’m choosing.

This has been a difficult task, but after doing research and talking to many breeders I’ve finally made my decision. I’ve just picked my puppy and she'll be arriving in just over a month. WOW! Am I am ever pumped!

I wanted to thank the many members old and new who regularly post and share their knowledge, expertise, humour, and their love of everything sheepie. This site has proven invaluable to me in my research. Thanks.

I’ll try to post some pics soon.

As I said, this is gonna be the longest month of my life.

Welcome to the forum!

Hi!!!

Congrats and good for you for being a responsible owner and doing research before your purchase!!

I did the same thing when I first discovered this site...as I'd previously owned 6 rescue dogs in the past but had never purchased one from a breeder. This forum taught me so much..the right questions to ask, asking for recommendations, ect..before I made the final choice and decided on the right breeder for me. Good for you for doing the same!

I noticed you live in BC...I'm in the Lower Mainland if you ever want a play date when your little on is a few months old! Can't wait to hear stories and see pics of your new arrival.

Thanks Ron. I'll do my best. Great site btw!
Thank-you for your kind words Marianne. It would have been a much harder endeavor to find a reputable breeder without access to the resources and recommendations available here. Every time I visit I always learn something new, and it seems like such a friendly community gathered here.

I live on Vancouver Island and do visit the mainland occasionally, perhaps when she's older. :)
Congrats & Welcome! Your hard work and patience will pay off! I look forward to hearing about your puppy when he/she arrives!

Welcome to the forum! :)
I can't wait to hear more! And pics pics pics! LOL
There we go! I've just inserted a pic into my avatar, hope you like. 8)

Thank-you both BritPresSyd and Willowsprite, I'll keep you posted.

Now, if only I could decide on a name. I've been searching for awhile now and still nothing yet that has moved me. I might end up waiting till I actually see her face to face, once I see those big brown eyes... Until then, I'll just keep on searching.

I was wondering if either of you would recommend that I give my girl a daily glucosamine supplement, starting at 10 weeks old? Is this too young to start? I've also read somewhere that it can upset the stomach of some dogs.
Do you know of other products available for the prevention of hip and joint disorders?

Thanks again.
Welcome to the forum! It's a fantastic place to learn everything you need to know about this wonderful breed!

I wonder if you're getting your pup from the same breeder as RollrXGirl. Your avatar and her avatar has your puppies laying on the same carpet!

Good luck, and keep us posted!

Chris
LOL... very cute, and you're right Drezzie, it is the same carpet! LOL :)

Drezzie, glad you mentioned it because I swore it was Roller posting again until I read the post. hehe

If there's anyone who understands your wait ...well, I mean we all do... but if there's anyone who actually remembers every detail of it "IT'S ME!!!"

i could not sleep, I could not stop buying things (yikes), kept revisiting all my emails I had with the owner of my Yuki, ....I was driving myself bonkers.

Hang in there! Can't wait to hear about it!!! :D :D
Love the new avatar Joahaeyo, she's wonderful. I believe you when you say you understand. I've read most of your posts and I'm feeling the same way right now. You must be so happy to finally have Yuki. I look forward to hearing more about her.

Hi Allanmc!

Welcome to the forum! I can imagine how long 1 month must feel, but she will be worth the wait. She is adorable in your avatar. That is exciting that you and Roller are getting siblings, it will be fun to watch them grow.
Keep us posted, and can't wait for pictures! :D
