need help please

Ok here it goes..... Holly is my sheepie and I also have a 9year old English Springer spaniel that I rescued from a puppy mill 9 yrs ago. The vet didn't think he would make it b/c he was only 5 weeks old and he was full of worms well he did make it and he is such an awesome dog.... the problem is b/c he was so inbred his back leg did not grow into the joint properly and at the time the vet thought that hs tendons were growing just faster than the bone... but that is neither here nor there... the problem is he could play with Holly when she was smaller but now that she is bigger she is way too rough with him! She jumps on his back , she runs full blast at him and tackles him or rolls him across the floor or outside wherever they are. I feel like I am constently saying NO HOLLY QUIT IT! She listens for 2 seconds and boom she is back again slamming him to the ground! I have him on Rimerdel and somedays he is better than others but Holly does not know when to quit. My springer Panda will play with her with his mouth on his back but he is now getting to the point where he is afraid to get up to get a drink......

Any suggestions??

Just one approach-

Only allow them to play together when you can supervise them. Put Holly on a leash when she's allowed to play with Panda. You'll need to supervise carefully and make a correction or give a brief time-out as soon as she's being to rough so she understands what behavior will no longer be allowed. You might be able to predict the behavior and give her a reminder before it happens. You need to be consistent... every time she's doing something that's too rough, you need to be there to tell her to "play nice" or "gentle". If play gets too rough, the play stops and the dogs are separated.

Also, if the problem occurs when they're turned loose to play in the backyard, you might instead opt for leash walks.
we still have Beowulf on a leash most of the time around the other dogs - he is the youngest but bggest anad really doesn't get it yet. I would also try to make sure Holly is TIRED before she has a chance to play with the Springer. so exercise her first - maybe with a more appropriate playmate - before she has a chance at the Springer. You could also try to teach ehr a command - like gentle? to use when she approaches him?

good to see you are still here :)
Thank you I will try the leash and the command "easy" . SHe just wants to play and I know she doesn't mean to hurt him she just wants to play. I am so glad I stuck it out with Holly even with all her problems I love her to death :D
