Ok-- I am not "up" on all of this download- burning CD stuff. Funny, because I am a technology trainer -- but not for this media.

Anywho-- I just found the old album I have been looking for FOREVER for my Sister. It was a Christmas Album we had as a kid, and I found a sealed copy. Yahoo.

Now-- none of us have record players, so, what do I do! where do I take it !!! to have it burned to a CD??????

This really makes me feel old.
I think I saw in The Sharper Image [bankrupt, don't buy there] and perhaps Radio Shack(?) a cheap turntable that had a built-in USB cable. Wink

Cheap is the adjective for the quality of the turntable -- they cost about $70 to $100 which is pricey to record one album.

I just searched on Amazon.com and found them for around $99 and up.

I also search eBay and found quite a few promising listings. Search for:
USB Turntable

Maybe you can find someone locally on Craiglist who will do it for a few dollars for you?

Craigslist is good but maybe you can find someone local too by googling. We can record from our turntables through a mixer a little device that records it onto our computer. If you can't find someone locally, please let me know and I will do it for you if you ship it to me.
BedBath abd Beyond has the turntables also.
Did you consider doing a search on Itunes for the album? You could download it onto your computer into your Itunes music library.
I'd also recommend doing a search. Almost anything is downloadable now.

Is downloadable a word Question Question Question Question Question
If it wasn't it is now! Very Happy
I had the same issue with an album for my dad, but I managed to locate a copy on cassette tape, and he still has a cassette player, so it worked out great. He thinks I'm the weird one for not having one, lol.
What is the album's/artist's name? (If you're shy, you can PM the name to me)

LOL- me, shy? Well it ages me, but I have already talked about this on the forum. I was trying to get it for her 40th BD, but kind of lost interest with everything else going on!

Lorne Greene-- "Have a Happy Holiday"

With everyone's suggestions, I have downloaded the "album", and I am going to burn that, along with giving her the unopened vinyl I found!!!!

The stars are in alignment today. She has such memories of that album playing while we decorated for Christmas.... I wanted to get it for her, because she is not typically the mushy one... that is me Cool

Thanks everyone!!!!

eeeeeeexcellent idea!
Good deal. You're better off in most cases just doing that because vinyl doesn't exactly output the best sound quality, especially not via USB.

Didn't find exactly what you're looking for? Search again here:
