Ear Cleaning Fun

Tiggy absolutely HATES having her ears cleaned. For one thing she has to lie still!
This morning after I had finished one ear I realised that I wasnt going to have enough cotton balls to do the second ear and went to get some more.
Tiggy was lying on the couch when I ambushed her for an ear clean. It's leather so I dont mind doing it there.
When I came back Tiggy had high tailed (she has a tail) it out of there.
So after tracking her down and carrying her back 'cause she wasnt coming under her own steam  I discovered two things.
One, the brush was gone :? 10 mins later; after stopping and thinking where would I put it if I was on four legs; I found it under the coffee table. Good try Tiggy.
Then two, after a search, the three remaining cotton balls were gone, completely gone, never to be seen again. Well they'll probably be seen again in a day or two when I do poo patrol in the backyard 8O
And I thought humans were sposed to be smarter than animals :D

I just get the look of...right now, come on. We can play chase!
with Marler i get a totally tucked in puppy, with sad eyes. sometimes she shakes as well. AND we do this every few days!!!! Morgan on the other hand thinks it s a party - oh sorry Morgan thinks everything is a party :D
If puppy has a punctured or inflamed hear drum/canal, ear cleaning is painful!!!!! Make sure this "torture" isn't the result if a problem, but rather a dog trying to tell you what to do.

According to the vet she is fine - if you meant Marley. she has other issues that make her nervous around anything she can't control.

My vet has checked Tiggy's ears and they're fine. She just hates it. But she hates lying still for grooming too. Slowly she's getting better with practice and patience. But she'd still rather be chasing the cat or harrassing her buddy Rastus or just sleeping.
I hear ya. MO still doesn't like to be groomed, Miss Wiggles. Jack hated it but over time I've created a lover of the brush....until it gets to his legs. Following the grooming instructions here at OES.org and using the couch, not a table......and waiting until Jack is asleep......I gently start brushing by spreading the hair on the couch so the bristles don't come near the skin. Once they realize they are not going to be scratched they begin to relax. If they learn the brushing is a gentle massage with a treat at the end, they get the hang of it. You may not get more than several square inches done at a time before you sense they are going to get bad. Remember to reward good behavior only. In time they'll patiently wait for the treat while you groom. And eventually just your touching them will be enough, no treats necessary. Patience grasshopper, patience.
Ah yes, the legs especially the front legs. Tiggy no like!

All sounds familiar, the couch not the table, ambushing sleeping sheepies and a quarter of a dog here, a quarter of a dog there. And a favorite treat timed for when it all gets too much.

Hubby laughs at Tiggy when a bit of her is all fluffy and beautiful and the rest is all ratty scruffy transition coat look.

I will practise the way of the grasshopper Master :D
Has the cotton wool balls passed?

Syd got babettes top knot a few days ago, hubby took them to the park this morning for a bit of off lead romping. Syd passed a pretty pink one at the park.
Yep cotton wool reappeared.

Tiggy ate Rastus's rego tag right off his collar a couple of weeks ago.
That reappeared too. Nice lime green. And no I didnt contemplate reattaching.
Luckily we were just leaving the off lead park when the ranger turned up on Friday. I think I remember the rule being they must display their rego tags.

Our council only issue one for the life of the dog now and you've got to pay for any new ones needed. CHEAPSKATES :P I'm gonna wait till Tiggy's less of a chewer before I start buying new ones I'd need a new one every day of the week!!

I showed Tiggy the pin up poster of Syd. She wants to kiss him too. :D :D
