Good with Small Dogs?

Linus met his 6-month-old Corgi "cousin" Lucy today and they got along perfectly. He's met small dogs at the park, but he's always leashed then.

They both seemed to have a ball, and Linus was comparatively gentle (he's with his OES family every weekend, and he's much more of a big boy with them).

Has anyone else noticed their OES getting along well with smaller dogs? I was amazed at how well he handled his much smaller counterpart.

Foz is great and gentle with small dogs. He puts his head on the ground and his butt in the air like a wheel barrow.
I find it depends more on the personality of the dog than the size in terms of reactions from my guys. I do find that Clyde also likes to wheelbarrow little dogs in an attempt to flip them too! He does it to Owen now when they really get going but he has never done it to Bear.
Henry likes all the little and big dogs ...... some like him back and play with him the others well ....there's no love lost from those big and little dogs that behave badly towards him

My kids have often had a small dog while I had a Sheepdog and theyve always gotten on well .Tab was very patient with my sons dog,Lucy, who is a maltese/shihtzu but when she got sick of Lucys nipping etc she would grab her in her mouth and toss her.Lucy usually took the hint.
Archie is very happy to play with any sized dog, it is mainly little dogs who are NOT happy to be confronted with the mad bouncing 90lb puppy behaviour, they do have a habbit of having a go at him, fortunately they just tend to gag on a mouthful of fluff!
My daughter visited from out of state with her 15-pound shnoodle (sp?) this past summer and she and Toby just had the best time. We called her Toby's Mini-Me because her haircut was almost like his, and they became inseparable even though we have two other 50-lb dogs that Toby normally plays with. Mini-Me would tease Toby to death until he chased her. Trouble was, she could get into, under, and on top of places (like the back of the couch) that he couldn't, but to see the 100 pound dog chasing the 15 pounder through the house, up and down stairs, kept us all in stitches for the two weeks. He missed her terribly when they went home.
Morgan is a Big OES - over 110lbs and he prefers little dogs. at sheepie palooza he played sherrif witht heother OES but befrended the basset simon :) at the dog park he gravitates to the little guys always - havernese, shitzus are all his favorites. I think I need to get him a portable:D

The liking was mutual! Simon likes the big guys and gals. He came with to he show this weekend and was putting the moves on a couple Afgan Hound bitches this weekend.
Funny I was thinking about this post while waiting for the elevator this morning - it was a long wait :) - anyway I did forget to add that my female has been known howerve, to interpret little dogs - like silky terriers  as prey and pin them to the ground. it really depends on your dog.
Tiggy likes everydog.
But if little dogs (or big for that matter) run she interprets them as prey and is off after them. She goes completely deaf!!
Usually she cant catch them and if she does she licks and chews them cause she loves them its only a problem when the little dogs owner freaks out.
Along with 85 pound Dodger, we have a 15 pound Bichon, Brady. We were worried that Dodger would play too rough when we rescued Brady, but usually he's really gentle with him.

Occasionally, Dodger almost sits on Brady, but Brady lets Dodger know that he doesn't like being sat on, and if I try to put Brady in any type of clothes all bets are off. It's almost like Dodger forgets that Brady is a dog, and tries to pick him up by the jacket and flip him over like a toy. Needless to say, Brady no longer wears any doggie clothes...
Does anyone else notice that when you are the pet store, the people with little dogs pick them up when they see you coming?
Chauncey & I were at PetSmart last night and every time a small dog owner saw us they picked up their dog and carried them or put them in the cart. Chauncey is well behaved when we go shopping and loves to shop so it wasn't his behavior. Heck he even likes to try on doggie clothes, they just don't fit.
I've noticed the same thing - what these people don't realize is that given the chance, my Bichon will play a lot rougher than Dodger would!
It was a grumpy Bichon that first bit and ripped my boys nose

People by me seem to think it fine to let their small dogs off leash without a care, yet when Archie strains on his leash to play with them I get comments how I should have him under control and get him trained properly

Maybe I should just let him off?

"Unleash the dog of bounce!"

That is soooo true. It drives me nuts. They stand right under my dalmo's nose and bark like crazy and if he dares to put them in their place with a well place paw on their back the owner goes nuts. I was told that he was aggressive the other day.

That comment made me aggressive. He's just fed up with being harassed. He actually really likes little dogs.
