stubborn inteligence?

Archie has a funny trait I wonder if anyone else has witnessed similar.

When crossing the road, it is easy to get him to stop, easy to get him to "check for cars" and he does actually check out all the roads for traffic, and waits until I say "all clear, let's cross the road then"

I prefer him to sit when waiting at the road, sometimes he will immediately sit on command, other times he can be a bit stubborn and plainly refuse to, that is until I say "we are going to wait here until you know what you have to do!" and within a second or two he has come to the sit!

Does anyone elses pup play such mind games?

Oh, absolutely! Rufus does all sorts of similar things, for example if he wants to play instead of eating his dinner he will bounce about, do the 'bow' with his tail wagging like crazy and throw his toys at me. I say "Rufus- eat your dinner!" He continues to play until I say "RUFUS! Eat your dinner this instant!" The tail drops, he walks slowly to his dinner and sniffs it while looking up at me with puppy eyes. That's when I put my hands on my hips. He knows that is the final gesture and gobbles up his food
Mind games? :lmt: You haven't lived thru mind games until you lived with my Melody.....Bless her heart but she's gone now. That girl was way too smart for her own good. What it did for me was make me realize I always had to be one step ahead of my dogs.
Bert loves the mind games. A month ago Bert would not want to leave the deck outside to go potty. So I would hide behind a tree and then he would come down the steps find me and go potty. Now he has reversed this game. I am left standing on the deck cold, monitering his pottying and he hides behind the tree, tries to wait until I go inside.
Oh yes, Obe does indeed like the mind games. I hear you, I understand what you are saying, and I know what it is you want me to do. But... WHY??? or I DONT WANT TO! Obe I'm busy go lay down. I can see that you are paying attention to something else, just wanted to rake my paw down your back, leg, arm etc. to let you know that I'm still here. Or go lay down I'm eating (firm tone in voice). Ok I'll take two steps back and one to the left and lay down. Is this good?

BTW did you forget that I was 2. Which means I'm a teenager, I know everything at age 16.
Stubborn Intelligence???? We call that SOPHIE!!! at our house. :D Too damn smart for her own good.
This is not my dog, but it is a hilarious example of the Sheepie mind games --

If I am busy, she will sit there and stare at me....if I do not respond she will give this very soft..."grrrrrrrrrr'...I will look at her and then go on with whatever I was doing....another...."grrrrrrr" (soft and higherpitched)---I can hear her saying..."HEY!!!! Pay attention to ME!!!"

Very CUTE and Very distracting at the same time....guess she makes her point!!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Mind games, aren't all sheepies the master of mind games? LOL

I love hearing the Bert stories since he is Jenny's brother.
That clip made me realize how funny it is when it happens to someone else
My guys are really good with Sit or Down commands. But sometimes they hesitate, I have to say "All the Way" and then they'll complete the command. People laugh at me when they watch this exchange between the girls and I.
Off topic, sorry, but doesnt this dog beg to be taught that dancing like the girl on Britains Got Talent did with her dog?
