For Sale?

Max and me had a lovely walk last sunday at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire with Charlie and while I went to the Loo a couple (50-60 years) came to Max and asked him if Charlie would be for sale????

What a question? Who would sell their dog just on the spot?

They even ask where we got Charlie from and how long we had her and got unhappy because they werent there when Charlie was "available"!! :? How weird? Max told me they said they used to have 2 OES before and want another one? Why not going to the OES Rescue???

Weir people out there? Did something similar happend to one of you aswell???

:?: 8O :?

I've gotten that a few times but more with my maltese (have had her longer), and I agree...it's weird!!! Considering who the question is coming from, I generally think "even if she was for sell, the price would give you a heart attack."
there are some days my guys should be glad no one has ever asked me that question
We were asked at a show to name our price for our Dairymaid aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal.
 Funny Kerry

Now my children...on most days I would gladly part with them, especially when they come home with laundry.

LOL!! I think too that Charlie (or the people who wanted to buy her!!) should be glad I havent "sold" her! These people dont know her "real" character! Ha ha!! Destroyed rooms, socks everywhere but not in my draw, toilet rolls everywhere and "hungry" at all times! ha ha! :excited: :excited:

She was very lucky that day she had behaved herself and became her first champion title.
Suzi's co-owner was offered an obscene amount of money for her at one point. Every time I look at my mortgage I just keep thinking, this could have been gone!!!!

Was it a gentleman representing a foreign breed club? Because the same thing happened with Sunny's dog five minutes after he went BOW in Lancaster... 8O :lmt:

The irony was that two days prior I had offered to PAY the owner of one of his younger brother's $1000 to take him - condition being he had to leave Lancaster that afternoon and head straght back to Canada with him, never to be seen again so I didn't actually have to show the maniac.

Oddly enough, he declined. I thought it was a rather generous offer.

Never had it happen with one of my dogs but was asked that question in regards to a duck.

I was six years old and had a leash around my dad's decoy duck (which looked very real). Out in the back alley with the leash around the duck and pulling it back and forth over a big pothole filled with water. A man approached me and asked me if my duck for for sale. I responded with a loud NO and remember thinking stupid man, doesn't he know it's not real?

Now I think back of this story with a smile, as in retrospect he may have been thinking I thought it was real. I was a smart kid, however, and knew the duck was not real except at Easter. my parents laid it in a nest of straw in the backyard and it brought me chocolate Easter Eggs Easter morning. I didn't know about the Easter bunny until the following year from kids at school. LOL( Okay, went way off topic here but the post brought me back to memory lane. Thanks!
