Detangling Spray Question

I know with the wealth of knowledge and experience out there, some of you will know the answer to my question...

I was flipping through a magazine yesterday and saw Johnson's No More Tangles spray - the same stuff my parents used on my hair when I was a kid with long, tangley hair. When using it this morning I wondered if it would help keep mats out of Cosmo's hair too... (Roxie doesn't seem to have any issues... yet).

Does anyone know if this is a good, bad, horrible, plausable, dangerous, damaging, possible, interesting or "whatever" notion? I don't know the science behind why it prevents tangles, so I thought I'd check with the pros... :)

Please share your thoughts on this one...

I know some maltese breeders that use it.

I prefer ice on ice.
I have used a human product made by Wella that is a leave-in conditioner. That works pretty good. But, I prefer Ice on Ice or The Stuff, both of which are dog grooming products. Good Luck! :P
I use Ice on Ice!!! and The Stuff too!!! I do like Ice On Ice tho.
